Every second Sunday of the month in 2025, Dabas (Dabas) transforms into a bustling market scene that’s impossible to miss. The massive National Animal and Flea Market draws in crowds and countless vendors who converge on Vásártér Street (Vásártér utca) before dawn, setting up stalls to create an authentic marketplace atmosphere that pulses with energy all day long. Here, you’ll find a vast assortment of clothes, furniture, antiques, gifts, toys, and plants, ensuring you rarely leave empty-handed. If all that browsing works up an appetite, the food stands are ready to spoil you with an ever-changing array of delicious options.
Live Animals and Ground Rules
Animal lovers—and bargain hunters—flock to a special section of the market for livestock and pet sales. A few rules are in place: it’s strictly forbidden to bring dogs or horses for sale into the market area. All other animals are welcome, provided they come from disease-free locations and have up-to-date veterinary certificates. On market days, vendor spaces can be arranged in person at the fairground office from 4:00 to 6:00 a.m.—no reservations, just arrive early. Sellers are reminded that earning income at the fair means taxes apply, so make sure your tax number is in order before setting up.
Monthly Market Dates and Other Events
The animal and flea market takes place monthly on these 2025 dates: July 13, August 10, September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14. But Dabas (Dabas) doesn’t stop at the big fair. The city has a full calendar: In July, catch Married (Házastársas) on July 4 and Veréb Tamás Acoustic (Veréb Tamás Akusztik) on July 18, with ticket prices ranging from $16.80 to $18.70. August brings We Are Two (Ketten Vagyunk) on August 8, with tickets from $15.40 to $17.10. December 30 wraps up the year with The Masters of Illusion (Az Illúzió Mesterei) for $15.90 to $48.20.
Dabas Hospitality: Where to Stay and Eat
Built on the grounds of the historic Dabas Inn (Dabas Csárda), the city’s flagship hotel and restaurant is the go-to spot for everything from intimate dinners to family gatherings, corporate events, and weddings. Accommodations range from newly renovated attic bedrooms in the mansion, to the well-equipped Nautilus Guesthouse and Restaurant (Nautilus Vendégház és Étterem), which offers nine cozy, en suite rooms with TV, a four-person outdoor jacuzzi, and even accessible options. Families can book extra beds, and children under 6 stay free. Pets get a warm welcome too! The restaurant opens only for private events.
More Than Just a Market
Dabas (Dabas) thrives on its sense of community, with events like the Sári Farewell (Sári Búcsú) fair, grape harvest parade, winter farewell festivities, and majorette performances. Pilgrims can find a place to stay in the same building that hosts the city’s cultural life. Dabas’s newest café, near the city center, serves everything from specialty desserts, sandwiches, pastries, and coffee to an extensive wine selection, soft drinks, and hand-crafted products. Families are welcome—there’s a children’s play area and an upstairs guest lounge.
Organizers reserve the right to change dates and programs, so check before you go—but every month, Dabas (Dabas) certainly keeps things lively!
