Imagine sipping top-quality wine, surrounded by rolling vineyards and an unrivaled view of Lake Balaton, while live music drifts through the evening air. This summer, for the first time ever, Badacsonyörs’s (Badacsonyörs) beloved winery is launching a special concert series. The idea is simple: blend unforgettable music nights with the grape-rich lifestyle and laid-back spirit that only the Balaton Highlands (Balaton-felvidék) can offer. Sound like your kind of summer? Soak up the sunset, a glass of wine in hand, and let a soundtrack of brilliant performances carry you through the warmest months of 2025.

Music in the Vines: What’s On?

From June 21 to August 10, 2025, the winery’s grounds come alive each weekend with “Varga BalaTone: A Sip of Music.” The line-up covers a wide spectrum—from household names to alternative heroes and fresh sounds. It’s all about memorable beats set against the vine-striped hillside. Here’s what’s on tap:

– July 5: Vasovski Live
– July 13: Dresch Alternative Quartet (Dresch Alternatív Kvartett), Rakonczai Live Piano
– July 19: Anima Sound System, Solére, DJ Budai, Nora Matisse
– July 26: Culture Cuvée
– August 10: Blahalouisiana (Blahalousiana), Bagossy Brothers Company (Bagossy Brothers Company)

When you buy a ticket, you immediately step into festival territory: access to all music programs that evening, one reusable festival glass, and the biggest highlight—unlimited tasting from a selection of Varga wines. Pour to your heart’s content from crowd-pleasers like Irsai Olivér Cuvée, Italian Riesling (Olaszrizling), Silent Rosé (Csendes Rozé), sweet and semi-sweet options, Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát), and brambly reds including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. If you’re thirsty for something else, soda is also free.

The unique setting lets you pick your perfect spot, whether you prefer lounging leisurely on the grassy hillside or relaxing in the specially designed lounge zone, a crisp white in hand. The event is easy to reach—there’s parking about 1,300 feet away on the main road, and a taxi stand at the entrance. Tickets are sold on-site from 5:00 PM on concert days, and kids under three enter free. There’s a discount for those under 18 (although no alcohol for them), and anyone under 16 needs to be accompanied by a responsible adult.

You won’t be wrestling with festival rules here, but they do remind you that only service dogs, guide dogs, and police dogs are allowed access. And if you run into any confusion, team members at the entrance or at the bars are always ready to help.

Stay the Night: Where to Rest Your Head

Tucked in the heart of the Badacsony wine region (Badacsonyi borvidék), the guesthouse sits on the southern slope of Örsi Hill (Örsi-hegy). Year-round, it’s a cozy retreat, whether snow falls or the summer sun blazes. The building features modern, energy-efficient heating and cooling, ensuring a comfortable stay no matter the season. Unpack and gaze out over Mount Badacsony (Badacsony-hegy) and Lake Balaton itself—a true reward at the end of any night.

Along the famous Route 71, a traditional stone house offers six individually designed rooms and an apartment. Think cool whites, grays, beiges, and rustic wood, all arranged for a relaxed, romantic vibe. It’s perfect for couples and families alike—with a dedicated upstairs play area and mini kitchen just for the little ones.

The Vineyards: Meet the Makers

Here, wine is more than just a drink—it’s in the blood. The Csanádi Winery (Csanádi Pincészet), for example, combines centuries-old grape varieties grown on the volcanic hills of Badacsony with fresh energy from several generations of the family. Established in 1993, their ten-hectare operation delivers characterful, authentic wines—each bottle telling a local story.

The Négy80 Micro-Winery (Négy80 mikroborászat), run by the Barcza family, gets its name from the exact length between their vineyard rows. Eleven hectares are cultivated across prime, south-facing slopes, home to local specialties: Blue Stalk (Kéknyelű), Pinot Gris (Szürkebarát), and Zeus (Zeus). Book in advance, and you can join an eight-wine tasting that showcases the estate’s best offerings.

Meanwhile, Sipos Winery and Guesthouse (Sipos Borház és Vendégház) sits right at the base of Mount Badacsony (Badacsony-hegy), one of the region’s most famous family-run wineries. Rustic charm meets exceptional handcrafted wines, brought to life by local friendships.

Food, Friends, and the Balaton Vibe

Expect more than just wine—these vineyards grow their own produce, serve up homemade cheeses, smoked ham, and local salamis. Everything is designed to be shared in the garden, under the open sky. You’ll find fireplaces, a modern bistro kitchen, specialty coffee, and a wine list brimming with all the wild, natural flavors the surrounding hills can offer.

The organizers may tweak the line-up or dates, but one thing is guaranteed: an atmosphere that stays with you long after the music fades. There’s nowhere quite like Badacsonyörs (Badacsonyörs) in summer—music, friends, endless wine, and the lake glittering below.
