On August 19-20, 2025, Visegrád (Visegrád) celebrates Hungary’s founding king, Saint Stephen, with a full-blown two-day festival across several locations—all events are free to attend. Festivities kick off Tuesday night at 8 PM with a gala concert by the Chamber Big Band (Kammer Big Band) in the Palace House (Palotaház). At 9:15 PM, a spectacular fireworks show lights up the sky above the Danube, launched from the Visegrád-Nagymaros ferry crossing—prime viewing is available from the riverbank or Black Hill (Fekete Hill). The night continues with a wild street party, as the Madarak Party Band (Madarak Házibuli) keeps everyone dancing from 9:30 PM at the Palace House (Palotaház).
Day Two: Sacred and Tasty Traditions
On Wednesday at 6 PM, everyone is welcome at the St. John the Baptist Parish Church (Keresztelő Szent János) for a ceremonial Mass. Following this, there’s the traditional bread blessing and a festive performance featuring Árpád Pálmai. Please note: dates and programs may change, as the organizers reserve the right to adjust plans.
