Komárom’s FortressFest (ErődFeszt) 2025 returns on August 2 with a vibrant array of events to fill the Monostor Fortress (Monostori Erőd) and Star Fortress (Csillagerőd) all summer long. From musicals to stand-up, traditional celebrations, and family programs, the festival packs nearly two months of entertainment into Komárom’s riverside.
Live Shows for All Tastes
Kick things off on August 2 with “The Attic” (“A Padlás”), a whimsical, half-fairytale, half-musical from legends Gábor Presser, Dusán Sztevanovity, and Péter Horváth, performed by the Hungarian Rock Musical Theater (Magyarock Dalszínház). With two acts and music for ages 9 to 99, it sets the tone for the festival.
August 3 brings “The Woman Breaks – Loves of Imre Kálmán” (“Az asszony összetör – Kálmán Imre szerelmei”), diving into passion and heartbreak. On August 7, András Berecz performs “Big Fight” (“Nagyverekedés”), delivering folk storytelling with plenty of charisma.
August 9 is all about humor, as Zoltán Mucsi takes the stage with his autobiography-meets-stand-up “My Life” (“Egy életem”). For kids, August 13 features Forget-Me-Not Puppet Theater (Nefelejcs Bábszínház) with “Little Hedgehog Rides” (“Sündisznócska lovagol”), a puppet theater adventure.
August 16 returns to classic romance in “Lovers of Ancona” (“Anconai szerelmesek”), again performed by the Hungarian Rock Musical Theater (Magyarock Dalszínház). On August 20, Monostor Fortress hosts “Bread Adventure” (“KenyérKaland”), a playful celebration filled with games and tradition.
August 22 brings some spice with “Cat City” (“Macskafogó”), a musical twist on the cult animated film. On August 24, love and laughter prevail in “Once Again, Same Time Next Place” (“Még egyszer, veled, ugyanitt”), a romantic comedy in two acts. August 29 delivers farce with “The Minister Steps Out” (“A miniszter félrelép”), a classic double-act comedy.
September doesn’t slow down. “Made in Hungary” (“Made in Hungária”), a hit musical packed with Hungarian pop anthems, takes center stage on September 5. Wrapping up the festival, September 27 features Pinwheel Children’s Band (Szélforgó Gyerekzenekar) for a family concert.
