when: Thursday, April 17 - Sunday, November 2

Get ready for an unforgettable trip: breathtaking views, the unmistakable scent of the Danube, and a stylish adventure—all from a boat winding through one of Hungary’s most scenic regions. Hop-on hop-off cruises are returning in 2025 to the Danube Bend (Dunakanyar), inviting locals and travelers alike to explore the area hassle-free, with daily tickets that let you board and disembark as often as you wish along the route. Just remember, during the summer, the Danube’s low water levels might disrupt both schedules and routes. Always check the official website before setting out.

The Classic Route

Boats depart from Visegrád and make their way through Nagymaros, Zebegény, Dömös, back to Nagymaros, and finally return to Visegrád. At every stop, adventure awaits. First up is Nagymaros and the Julianus Lookout (Julianus-kilátó), a perfect spot for panoramic views of the Danube Bend.

Zebegény is a treat for explorers. Climb up to the Trianon Memorial for dramatic views of the river, then head to the Károly Kós Lookout (Kós Károly-kilátó) for a fresh perspective. Down from the hills lies the István Szőnyi Memorial Museum (Szőnyi István Emlékmúzeum), where you can appreciate the famed artist’s works.

The journey continues from Zebegény to Dömös, passing the picturesque Pilis Mountains (Pilis-hegység). Dömös is the gateway to hiking trails—try the dramatic Rám Gorge (Rám-szakadék) or take a more leisurely walk to the thousand-year-old church. After Dömös, the boat loops back to Nagymaros, where connecting trains can whisk you back to the city, or you can keep sailing for a last look at the silhouette of Visegrád Castle (Visegrádi vár).

Timetables and Flexibility

The boats cruise this circular route regularly from April 17 to November 2, 2025. Operating on selected dates throughout July, August, September, and October, these trips are perfectly timed for peak sightseeing and offer flexibility, even if your schedule is tight. However, keep in mind that schedules are subject to last-minute changes due to unpredictable summer water levels or other reasons.

Tips and More Mini-Cruises

Hop-on hop-off Danube cruises provide an easy, unique day out, and thanks to the daily ticket system, your sightseeing can be as flexible as you wish—just board, hop off, explore, and hop right back on. Additional trips and smaller cruises operate on various dates, mainly during the high season, so if you miss one, another will soon set sail.

The organizers reserve the right to change both the timetable and the event programs at any time, so always plan ahead and check for updates before you travel.
