Nothing says summer in Hungary like a big pot of lecsó (vegetable stew), and 2025’s calendar is packed with festival dates for fans to mark down. Káva kicks things off on August 16, with its much-anticipated Lecsó Festival (Lecsófesztivál) serving up local flavors.
August’s Big Stew Events
August 30 is a spicy double-header. The 18th Szárszó International Lecsó Festival (Szárszói Nemzetközi Lecsófesztivál) brings together teams from across the globe, while Balatonkenese hosts its national celebration by the lakeside—don’t forget your spoon.
September Simmers with Stew
Early September sees the 24th Szentes Lecsó Festival (Szentesi Lecsófesztivál) bubbling for two whole days, September 5-6. September 13 makes it impossible to choose, with simultaneous festivals in Székesfehérvár, Veszprémgalsa, Tatabánya, and Nagykálló.
Closing with a Budapest Bash
The season wraps up in Budapest’s posh Pasarét district on September 21. Organizers warn plans may change, but all true fans will be ready, ladle in hand.
