From August 22 to 24, 2025, the riverside of Vác (Vác) transforms into a fish lover’s paradise with the second Vác Fisherman’s Soup and Fish Cooking Festival (Váci Halászlé és Halfőző Fesztivál). This three-day event brings together unique fish dishes, the 49th MA-HAL National Fish Cooking Competition, a kids’ fishing tournament, free fishing exams, and a jaw-dropping 5,283-gallon (20,000-liter) aquarium. And it’s not just about eating—free concerts and a special surprise will make sure no one gets bored.
Fish, Flavors, and Festival Vibes
Friday kicks off at 6pm with Derby Band (Derby Zenekar) rocking the stage, followed by music legends Feró Nagy (Nagy Feró) and Áron Kovács (Kovács Áron) featuring DJ Kényelmes. The night ends on a high note with a party by DJ Spigiboy.
Saturday’s main event is the 49th National Fish Cooking Competition. Registration runs from 8 to 9am, the cook-off begins at 9:30am, judging takes place at 12:30pm, and winners are announced at 2:30pm. The afternoon continues with a show from Pedrofon Band (Pedrofon Zenekar) at 5pm, followed by an air show from aerobatic champion Péter Besenyei at 6:45pm. Later, Lóci Plays (Lóci játszik) will perform live before DJ Atesz gets the party started at Korzó Disco (Korzó Discó).
Family Fun and More
Sunday is packed with family games and entertainment, including a fish-throwing contest at 3pm, the 4M Dance Company at 4pm, Brandnyúl’s show at 5pm, and an interactive performance by the “Carrot, Radish, Peanut” troupe (“Répa, retek, mogyoró”) at 6pm. The Brillantin Band (Brillantin Zenekar) closes the festival with a street party at 7pm.
