Step into the past from September 19 to 21, 2025, as Balatonfüred (Balatonfüred) transforms into a lively celebration of Hungary’s Romantic Reform Era. For three thrilling days, history buffs and festival lovers can soak up a unique blend of nostalgia, culture, and fun along the scenic Tagore Promenade and the city’s historic district.
Costumed Parade & Timeless Glamour
The biggest crowd-pleaser is the spectacular parade organized by the Reform Era Tradition Keepers Association. Get swept up in the atmosphere as tradition enthusiasts in authentic 19th-century attire stroll among the grand old buildings, evoking the days when iconic poets and writers mingled at glittering social events. Dazzling carriages, hussars, and musicians bring the era back to life as they march from Saint Stephen Square (Szent István tér) to the sparkling shores of Lake Balaton (Balaton). Feeling inspired? Anyone can join the parade—just rent a costume from the organizers and step into history yourself!
Culture, Crafts, and Local Flavors
Each day, a folk and craft fair fills the Tagore Promenade with vibrant stalls. Browse artisan handicrafts, discover local treasures, and catch the highly anticipated fashion show by designer Katalin Hampel. Music, culture, and a touch of Petőfi (the legendary poet) are woven throughout the program. Take a break with local wines: Arias Winery, crowned Balatonfüred’s Winemaker of the Year, and Piffáth Winery, proud winner of the Town’s Wine Award, offer their best vintages to thirsty festival-goers.
