Get your gear ready, because October 11, 2025, promises to be a wild ride at Göbös Estate (Göbös Major) in Csapod. National Hunters’ Day joins forces with the Győr-Moson-Sopron Red Deer Trophy Exhibition for a celebration where food, hound competitions, tradition, and nature come together. The event, hosted at the KAEG Ecotourism Center (KAEG Ökoturisztikai Központ), has something for everyone: a cooking competition, hunting dog beauty show, heritage displays, and all-day family activities.

Early Morning Revelry

By 7:00 AM, the scent of simmering stews and the bustle of vendors fill the air as teams and sellers get settled in. The morning gives way to a hearty breakfast reception. At 9:30, the Sopron Löver (Soproni Lővér) hunting horn players perform as the ceremonial game display is unveiled, followed by a grand procession of hunters and their flags heading to the hunters’ chapel.

Tradition, Ceremony, and Celebration

The main program kicks off at 10:00 AM. Experience the resounding Hunters’ Anthem, a ceremonial St. Hubertus Mass with Abbot Zoltán Márton Fazekas, and inspiring speeches by Sándor Széles, county government official; Zsolt Semjén, President of the Hungarian Hunters’ Chamber and Deputy Prime Minister; István Nagy, Minister of Agriculture; and Zoltán Kovács, Editor-in-Chief of Nimród. Hunters’ Day is officially opened with remarks from President László Jámbor and an awards ceremony. Educational “hunting benches” are inaugurated by Head Gamekeeper Balázs Nagy, who also opens the trophy exhibition and launches the clay pigeon shooting contest.

Fun for All Ages

The forest school is lively from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM with children’s art, roe deer trophies by Albin Csordós, craft workshops, an ethics quiz, police museum displays, games, and a petting zoo. Meanwhile, the main building’s dining hall at 1:00 PM honors hunters celebrating their 80th birthday.

Music, Dogs, and Delicious Stew

Don’t miss the cooking contest judging, where chefs’ and sportsmen’s skills go head-to-head. Laser hunting is available for the little ones, and there’s a hunting dog beauty competition between 1:00 and 3:00 PM, with results at 3:30 PM. The Riding Hall (Lovarda) stage features live folk music, and traditional and historical hunting methods are demonstrated in the afternoon.

Outdoor Excitement

All day long, families can enjoy carriage rides, folk games, and a hands-on stag trophy showcase. Want a shot at glory? Test your aim at fast-paced clay pigeon shooting, archery, and falconry. As evening falls, groove to the Neoton Party Band and Bőly Roll for a musical wrap-up to a day packed with tradition, fun, and the wild spirit of the hunt.

Leading the Charge

The festivities are headlined by prominent officials, including Zsolt Semjén and István Nagy, with support from local government, business, and institutional leaders. Major sponsors such as OTP Bank, Groupama, and KAEG keep the event running smoothly.
