For centuries, the people of Chestnut Village (Iharosberény) have lived alongside the sweet chestnut tree, and they’re keeping the tradition alive with the annual Chestnut Village Chestnut Festival (Berényi Gesztenyefesztivál) on October 4, 2025. Hosted at the historic Inkey Castle (Hársfa Street 3), the festival is packed with local fruits, produce, chestnut cakes and pastries, live concerts, and family activities.
All-Day Entertainment
Kicking off at 9:00 AM, the Chestnut Village Cauldron Cooking Contest and Chestnut Cup soccer tournament start the day, followed by a large agricultural and hunting exhibition at noon. Children from the local kindergarten perform at 1:00 PM, with regional cultural groups taking the stage at 1:30. The local dance group performs at 2:00, and after opening speeches and honorary citizenship awards at 3:00, there’s a lively program featuring a dog show, choir, and folk dancing. Music from KREDENC, JÁCINT BRADICS, and IRIGY HÓNALJMIRIGY, along with a raffle and fireworks, cap off this chestnut extravaganza.
