The Bikavér Vineyard Tour (Bikavér Dűlőtúra) takes you from a cozy wine cellar, across the vibrant Almagyar Vineyard (Almagyar), up to Síkhegy, as you follow the story—and flavor—of Bikavér, Eger’s legendary red wine. Taste wines made practically within arm’s reach of the vines, and round off your walk under the poplars with hearty beef goulash and homemade strudel.
Tour Details: Sip, Stroll, and Savor
Kick things off at 10:30 AM in the cellar with a glass of Egri Star (Egri Csillag) 2024—the white sibling of Egri Bull’s Blood (Egri Bikavér). István Polyák (Polyák István) guides you through the cellar before you set out on the 3.4-mile hike (or hop on a minibus) with Kati Tóth (Tóth Kati) and István Polyák. First stop: the Almagyar Vineyard, where you’ll sample tank-fresh Rosé (Rozé) 2025 and Kadarka Siller 2025. Refuel with ash-baked biscuits and mineral water.
Tasting Through the Vineyards
Next, head to Síkhegy’s old vines for a taste of Egri Bull’s Blood (Egri Bikavér) 2022, followed by Egri Bull’s Blood Superior (Egri Bikavér Superior) 2021 from the new plantings, and another sip of Bikavér 2022. Finish at the Nyárfa (Poplar) terrace with a feast: show-cooked beef goulash, sourdough bread, homemade strudel, plus a grand pour of Egri Bull’s Blood Grand Superior (Egri Bikavér Grand Superior) 2022 PREMIER.
