Debrecen’s Józsa (Józsa) district is getting ready for the 22nd edition of its beloved Rabbit Cooking Contest, happening on Saturday, October 25, 2025, just behind Józsapark (Józsapark) by the Tócó (Tócó Stream). Everyone from hobbyists to companies, groups of friends, and community organizations is welcome to test their culinary skills.
Ready, Set, Boil (or Bake) That Bunny!
The first 50 eager teams to sign up will receive a kitchen-ready rabbit, free of charge, and anyone who wants more can buy extra rabbits for $7.80 each. All participants get a dedicated cooking spot and firewood, all complimentary. Teams also receive free beer benches for their crew, making comfort a priority.
Cooking, Judging, Victory!
Sign-up is possible in person or by phone at the DEMKI Józsa Community House (DEMKÍ Józsai Közösségi Ház). Rabbit pickup takes place on Friday, October 24, between 4 and 6 PM. Renowned judges will score the entries from 1 PM to 3 PM, and awards will be announced at 4:30 PM. Participation is completely free—so just bring your best and your appetite!
