Fun for Kids: Halloween and Storytelling
The Kids’ Corner comes alive on October 25 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the American Corner, Eötvös Károly Library (third floor). The morning is dedicated to learning English through playful activities, all centered around Halloween fun.
On October 28, two events await: The French Club (Francia Klub) brings together enthusiasts at 4:30 PM in the library’s Dr. László Nagy Hall (Dr. Nagy László terem). Join Mélanie Wrede and Ildikó Kenyeres to chat in French. At the same time, Story Tuesday (Mesekedd) is held at the Dózsaváros Branch Library (Dózsavárosi Fiókkönyvtár). Children can enjoy the story “The Magic Pumpkin” (CSODATÖK), and then get creative making Halloween decorations.
Puppy Therapy for the Little Ones
October 29, from 4:30 to 5:00 PM, is all about dog therapy for the youngest library members (ages 0-3 with a valid library card) at the Children’s Library. Meet Travell, the therapy dog, and learn how to treat animals with care during this session led by Anikó Jánoska from the Doctor Paws Foundation (Doktor Mancsok Alapítvány). If it’s rainy, remember to bring an extra pair of shoes!
Conversations, Movies, and Book Launches
On October 30, the Conversation Club meets from 4:30 to 5:30 PM at the American Corner. Whether you need English for exams, work, or just enjoy interesting conversations, everyone in high school and older is welcome. The discussion topic: Gothic culture.
November 5 brings two special events at 5:00 PM. The American Corner hosts a Surprise Movie Afternoon, featuring a classic American film with free snacks—and feel free to bring your own treats. Meanwhile, “The Colorful World of Postcards” book launch takes place in Kisfaludy Hall, with postcard collectors, publisher speeches, and music by the Hungarikum Ensemble.
Youth Workshop: Make Your Voice Count!
On November 17, from 2:00 to 5:30 PM, young people can join a free national youth workshop, “Make Your Voice Count!”, at the Eötvös Károly Library. This workshop skips lectures in favor of real conversation, brainstorming what today’s youth need and want in their communities. Registration is required as seats are limited, but curiosity and ideas are essential. If you’re ready to shape your future, this is your chance to be heard.
