To mark the 200th anniversary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, a new exhibition, Magic Power – Knowledge. Community. Academy., will be open at the Hungarian National Museum (Magyar Nemzeti Múzeum) from May 6 to October 26, 2025. Five distinct visual sections will guide visitors through the history of the Academy, illustrating how it has shaped communities and become a central force in science and society.
Historic Treasures on Display
The exhibition features some truly rare artifacts. You’ll get to see Stephen Széchenyi’s (Széchenyi István) original donation letter, which launched the founding of the Academy, along with Katalin Karikó’s actual Nobel Prize, and the death mask of poet and playwright Charles Kisfaludy (Kisfaludy Károly).
Get Involved!
Beyond just viewing the displays, visitors can participate in special programs, guided tours, and lectures throughout the duration of the exhibition. It’s your chance to experience the legacy and magic of Hungarian science in person.
