Bogács packs a lot into its small footprint: healing thermal waters, crisp Bükk Mountains air, calming nature, and a steady stream of cultural events. The star of this spa town is the year-round Spa and Beach Bath (Gyógy- és Strandfürdő), where visitors come to relax, recharge, and recover. In summer, kids rush the slide park, while wellness fans and medical tourists alike dip into mineral-rich pools. Add in modern accommodations and generous dining options, and it’s easy to see why so many choose Bogács, just 10 miles from Eger and 5 miles from Mezőkövesd, for their getaway.
Party Calendar: Halloween to New Year’s
November kicks off with a free, costume-optional Halloween Video Disco at Hintóvölgye on November 1, with a heated 5,382-square-foot indoor space decked out in spooky style. From 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., DJ KORMIE spins hits from 1980 to 2025, and the drinks of the night—Jägermeister Orange and Unicum Orange (UNICUM Narancs)—run $2.72 per 1.35 oz until midnight.
On November 7, Hintóvölgye goes live with Magyar Retro, leaning into classic Hungarian vibes. Then, from November 7–9, the village celebrates St. Martin’s Day Festivities (Márton-napi vigasságok), traditionally featuring roast goose, new wine, and plenty of music. November 8 is a double-header: Hintóvölgye’s Season Finale, Night of Hits (Slágerek Éjszakája) with live music and a DJ, and the St. Martin’s Day Pool Party (Márton-napi medencebál)—yes, a poolside St. Martin’s Day party at the baths.
November 10 marks the Day of Polish Friendship, a nod to enduring cultural ties. And when December 31 hits, Hintóvölgye fires up New Year’s Eve Night of Hits (Szilveszteri Slágerek Éjszakája), a Retro Party to blow out the year. Capacity is limited; book early. Expect József Czaga to keep the floor buzzing with live sets and DJ mixes from the last 30–40 years of Hungarian and international hits. The mantra: party, eat, drink, sing, dance, and launch the new year in style.
Stay Your Way: From Yurt-Style to Family Pensions
The Jurta Üdülőközpont gets its name from three round, yurt-shaped buildings designed to host larger groups in smaller rooms—great for teams or extended families. On the other side, five duplex houses offer 10 apartments, with at least one yurt unit and one apartment designed for accessibility.
Right by the western gate of the baths, the Patak-party Apartments (Patak-party Apartmanok) bring convenience: eight upstairs studio apartments, seven with two beds plus extra bed options, and one family room with two bedrooms. Total capacity: 25 guests. You can stroll through the Panzió*** entrance to reach the spa in minutes.
If camping is your style, the winterized Thermal Camping and Cabins (Thermál Kemping és Faházak) operate year-round on the north side of the baths, sharing the same parkland. There’s space for about 250 tents and caravans under shady trees, plus heated cabins for a cozier stay when temperatures drop.
Freshly revamped, the Thermal Pension (Thermál Panzió) now features nine superior rooms: eight doubles (one accessible) and a family unit with two rooms. It meets the three-star pension rating and adds a 50-person conference room perfect for symposia, team-building, social gatherings, and family events.
The Bogács Thermal Hotel (Apartments) (Bogácsi Thermál Szálló – Apartmanok) spans two buildings flanking the baths—Building A beside the main entrance on the east, and Building B to the west—with 18 rooms for two, three, or four guests, most with extra bed options.
For a quieter corner, Acacia Guesthouse (Akác Vendégház) sits near the sports field and the wine cellar row (pincesor), ideal for families and friend groups of 6–8. Rooms include private bathrooms, a big living room, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a well-equipped kitchen. The grassy yard offers a closed parking area, covered terrace, and a garden setup for grilling and cooking.
Ildikó Apartment Guesthouse (Apartman Ildikó Vendégház) is a standalone house on a calm street near the village center, a short walk to the baths and the nightlife of the wine cellars. Rooms and apartments come with private bathrooms, kitchens, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a setup comfortable for 10–12 people. Guests get a lawned yard, closed parking, covered terrace, ping-pong table, and outdoor cooking facilities.
Prefer a classic farmhouse vibe? An old-style courtyard farmhouse (ambitusos parasztház) welcomes guests in four rooms—two doubles, one quad, and one triple—each with its own bathroom. There’s a spacious shared kitchen for self-catering and a large landscaped garden to unwind. Another guesthouse stands just 437 yards from the thermal baths on a quiet street, tailored for families and friend groups of up to 10–12 people.
Eat, Drink, Dance: Pincesor and Beyond
If ’90s and 2000s tunes are your thing, you’ll feel at home where the last 30 years of hits soundtrack your meal. The menu blends seasonal dishes with countryside classics. Head to the Bogács Wine Cellar Row (Bogácsi Pincesor) to explore the flavors of the Bükkalja and Eger wine regions, sip standout local bottles, and experience the vibe of a nearly 300-year-old wine house with a modern twist.
The Bacchus Wine Bar (Bacchus Borozó), a certified member of the Bükkalja Wine Route Association (Bükkaljai Borút Egyesület), keeps the mood going year-round with wine tastings and live music. There are several wine cellars across Bogács—many tied to the Bükkalja Wine Route—and a local wine order founded in 1996 that champions the quality wines of the Bükkalja region, promotes the beauty of the landscape, and celebrates the deep connection between wine, gastronomy, and the arts.
For a full-service family-run spot, the Wildflower Restaurant (Vadvirág Étterem) leans into hospitality traditions passed down through generations. The promise: a cozy setting, attentive staff, fragrant plates, great wines, and a restorative coffee if that’s your speed. Their motto sums it up: A place where your stomach and soul feel brighter.
