Kaáli Géza Nagy, founder of the Kaáli Institutes, has finally made his long-held dream roar to life: over the past years he’s assembled Hungary’s largest and most diverse collection of historic vehicles. Parked in period-styled halls with gorgeous lighting and era-correct decor, the museum’s motorcycles and cars gleam in full glory, each one touched by restoration expert Péter Nagy’s meticulous hands. You’ll find it at 8244 Dörgicse, Csörgőfa utca 33/2, near Lake Balaton, with guided visits running October 27–31, 2025, and multiple dates through December.

Hungarian legends under one roof

Nowhere else on Earth will you see this many Hungarian-built motorcycles in one place. It’s a national pantheon: Méray 1000, WM Csepelek, SHB, BM, Mátra, touring Csepel models, Tünde, Panni, Berva, Danuvia—and every Pannónia right up to the 1975 P12s. There are unicorns too, like the Pannónia MC62 and the Danuvia DMC125. All fully operational, shown either in pristine original condition or beautifully restored.

Global icons with serious stories

The lineup goes international fast. There’s a 100-year-old Henderson DeLuxe and an Indian PowerPlus. The BSA Empire Star (1936) stands just as it looked when Nobel laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi rode one across half of Europe. Icons abound: Zündapp KS600, NSU 601 TS, Matchless J Sport, Moto Guzzi Falcone Sport, Triumph Ricardo, Scott Super Squirrel, Imperia Model H, Norton Model 18, Ariel Red Hunter, BMW R51/3. Kaáli has even brought home his U.S.-bought Harley-Davidson FXR Low Rider (1987), barely broken in and still bristling with attitude.

Family threads and socialist steel

The collection also salutes bikes from former socialist countries and includes the family motorcycles once owned by the professor’s father. Many of these machines sit beneath archival family photos hanging on the walls—personal history riding in tandem with industrial heritage. Selection and documentation were done with the help of Hungarian and international experts; vehicle plaques were compiled by automotive historian Dr. Pál Négyesi.

A slice of Americana

They’ve built a full-on American diner set—think jukebox, Coca-Cola vending machine, and iconic furniture—complete with period cars parked out front. It’s an Instagram trap in the best possible way.
