It’s a spellbinding experience for kids and adults alike, captivating from the first moment.

Fertőd’s Winter Realm of Light

2025.10.24. – 2026.02.01.

Two hundred thousand bulbs and nearly 3.7 miles of light garlands turn the palace park into a nightly spectacle through February 1. The exhibition Versailles of Lights (Fények Versailles-a), the latest stop in the DECOLED Story of Lights series, transforms the Baroque gardens of Esterházy into a glowing dreamscape. More than 75 installations, 200,000 bulbs, and six kilometers of string lights animate the historic grounds, where luminous statues, carriages, horses, and rose motifs cast the site in an entirely new light.

It’s the first time the Story of Lights series has landed at Esterházy Palace (Esterházy-kastély) in Fertőd. Spanning almost 312,000 square feet, the project dresses the entire U-shaped palace facade in lights. In the garden, dozens of installations tower up to 26 feet, including animal figures, carriages, tunnels, and themed scenes that channel Baroque elegance and the mood of the historic setting. Rose motifs pay homage to the palace’s famed rose garden.

A 12-person build team completed the spectacle in a week, backed by more than 20 specialists and roughly 800 work hours.

Eszterháza Center’s managing director, Csilla Sütő, put it like this: “We’re thrilled and proud to open Eszterháza Center’s newest, truly unique attraction. In this special light exhibition, the art of sculpture and the brilliance of illumination weave into a single dazzling story. This light park is more than a visitor experience—it’s a message that Eszterháza is alive, creating, inspiring.”
