Gyula flips the switch to full holiday mode December 5–7, with citywide Advent vibes: nativity plays, festive shows, concerts, candle lighting, and a folk-art market. Wander the twinkling downtown, unwind under the lights, and pick up gifts at the Advent fair.
Family Fun & Santa Sightings
December 6 packs a punch: “The Grinch at the Playhouse” (“Grincs a Játszóházban”) brings mischief to the playhouse, PartyVarázs hosts a Santa (Mikulás) Party, and the 1st Gyula Tractor Parade (I. Gyulai Traktoros Felvonulás) rolls through town. On December 7, Joulupukki, the real Finnish Santa, visits Gyula, while Ladics House opens its doors for “Advent at Ladics House” (Advent a Ladics-házban): “Naturally for the Tree” (Természetesen a fára), a crafty morning for tree-ready creations. All weekend long (Dec 5–7), the Blue Little Train (Kék Kisvonat) runs a special Santa train.
Music, Workshops, Magic
December 8: GyulaKult stages “The Snow Fairy’s Tale” (Hótündér meséje), a musical mini-theater treat. December 11 doubles up with “An Advent Evening with Us” (“Egy Adventi Este, Velünk”) by Attila Kökény and Viktor Rakonczai, plus an Elf Workshop (Manóműhely) for handmade décor. The castle hosts Advent workshops on December 13 and 20. Ladics House returns December 14 with 3D cookie-cutter making, and the Gyula Vigadó fills with an Advent concert. December 21 closes with “Krisztkindli,” a special guided tour at Ladics House. Organizers may change dates and programs.
