when: 2025.12.22., Monday - 2025.12.28., Sunday

Zalakaros turns the year-end into a nonstop playground of music, ice, and steaming thermal bliss across multiple venues. From festive evangelization and VIP dinners to snowy spa nights and a Krampus parade, the resort town lines up concerts, family activities, and back-to-back skating weeks that stretch into late January.

December Highlights

On December 28, the Faith Church (Hit Gyülekezete) hosts an evangelization evening with singer Gergő Oláh in the Korzó Grand Hall. Entry is by registration only and capped at the first 250 guests. All week long, lace up for “Everyone on the Ice!” (Jégre mindenki!)—open public skating at the Karos Korzó rink, running December 22–28 and returning December 29–January 4.

Snowy Spa Night and Star Magic

December 29 brings the Snowy Bath Party (Havas Fürdőparty) at the Zalakaros Spa: bathe in steaming outdoor thermal pools as snow falls, wander through festive lights and décor, and catch a live concert by the Decsi Brothers from 17:00. The Karos Korzó’s Star Magic (Csillagvarázs) program runs December 27–31 with daily acts: Laci Horváth (Dec 27, 17:30), DJ Bony (Dec 28, 18:00), the Rezsek–Hervai duo (Dec 29, 18:00), a pre–New Year’s Eve with DJ Czege (Dec 30, 18:00), then a Dec 31 VIP Dinner & Party in the Grand Hall from 18:00 and a New Year’s Party with DJ Rebell at 20:00.

Family Water Adventures

The Winter Splash (Téli Csobbanás) animated Water Fairyland runs December 27–31 at the spa with stacked daily sessions: ball quests, treasure dives, goofy family aqua fitness, water bomb and water gun battles, tug-of-war and limbo, mini disco, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon twisting, and New Year-themed crafts. Special slots include salon candy hunts and lucky coin searches for the season.

New Year’s Eve and Day

Ring in 2026 at New Year’s Eve in Zalakaros (Szilveszter Zalakaroson): two parties, one night. The Event Square (Rendezvénytér) features DJ Rebell from 20:00–02:00, while the Karos Korzó hosts an all-inclusive New Year’s Eve Party. On January 1 at 16:00, the Mayor delivers a New Year’s greeting.

January Beats and Ice

Keep gliding with “Everyone on the Ice!” (Jégre mindenki!) January 5–11, 12–18, 19–25, and 26–31. Party alpine-style at the Hut Party (Hütte Party) on January 9–10. Big-name shows follow: TNT with Ákos Dobrády and Krisztián “Inti” Zuber on January 2, a mischievous Krampus parade on January 3, Balkan Fanatik in concert on January 24, and a Men’s Day Charity Ball on January 31.

Schedules may change at organizers’ discretion.

Pros
+
Super family-friendly: skating weeks, spa “Water Fairyland,” goofy aqua games, crafts, mini disco—kids are covered while adults get concerts and thermal pools
+
Easy winter fun even if you hate the cold: soak in steaming outdoor baths during the Snowy Bath Party, then warm up at indoor shows
+
Good value density: multiple venues and daily programs packed into late Dec–Jan means you can sample a lot in a short trip
+
No Hungarian required for most activities; skating, spa, parties, and NYE vibes are universal, and staff in resorts usually manage basic English
+
Comparably unique vs. U.S. winter events: few American towns mix open-air skating, alpine-style hut parties, and big thermal spas in one compact resort
+
Public transport workable via Budapest–Zalakaros bus/train combos, and driving is straightforward on good roads with winter tires
+
Low-key bragging rights: Balkan Fanatik, TNT, and a Krampus parade offer regional color you won’t catch at typical U.S. NYE parties
Cons
Zalakaros isn’t widely known to U.S. travelers, so planning takes more research and fewer English-first guides
Some headliners and the evangelization event are local-culture centric; non-Hungarian announcements and lyrics may limit the connection
Registration caps (e.g., 250 seats) and shifting schedules mean you need to book early and stay flexible
Getting there is longer than Budapest staples: 2.5–3.5 hours from the capital, limited late-night transit, and winter weather can slow travel
