January 1: The big bang
Budapest gets right to it at 16:00 with New Year’s Concert for Young People – Haydn: The Creation (A teremtés) – highlights at Müpa, serving the oratorio’s thunder and birdsong in a crisp sampler. At the same hour, Szekszárd stages a crowd-pleaser: New Year’s Queen Symphonic with the Szolnok Symphony and Crazy Little Queen Tribute Band at the Babits Mihály Cultural Center—think Bohemian Rhapsody with full orchestral punch.
Keszthely leans tender at 17:00 with The Music Is Love – New Year’s Concert at Balaton Theatre. Then, 18:00 turns into peak hour: the New Year’s Overture 2026 with the Hungarian Radio Art Ensembles hits the Liszt Academy in Budapest; Tatabánya’s 2026 New Year’s Concert lands at Vértes Agóra; and Sopron adds its own New Year’s Concert to the map.
At 19:00 Budapest, You Wonderful! brings a Gala Concert to the Várkert Bazár, while Eger’s Symphony glitters with a New Year’s Gala at the Gárdonyi Géza Theatre. Violin virtuoso Zoltán Mága opens his 18th Budapest New Year’s Concert at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna. Veszprém hosts a refined night with the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra at Hangvilla. Saturday morning at 11:00, Székesfehérvár’s Vörösmarty Theatre keeps tradition with a New Year’s Concert 2026. Budapest’s Csili Cultural Center brings the legendary Boban Marković Orkestar at 18:00, while Eger’s Hotel Eger & Park hosts a New Year’s Concert in the Liget Hall. In Budapest, the Hot Jazz Band turns up twice at Napfényes Restaurant & Event Hall—18:30 for the concert and another 18:30 show with dinner, same venue, a vintage soirée with syncopated shine.
At 19:00, Zoltán Mága rolls into Debrecen’s Főnix Aréna with his New Year’s Concert. January 23–29: Encores and finales
January 23 brings Hurray, Hurray! to Budapest’s Csepel Workers’ Home at 18:00, while Nagykanizsa’s Hevesi Sándor Cultural Center stages New Year Best of Musicals at 19:00. On the 24th, Miskolc’s House of Arts hosts Wine Brings Cheer at 15:00 and 19:00, and Zoltán Mága closes in on Nyíregyháza’s Continental Arena at 19:00. The late flourish comes January 29 at 19:00: Pop, Swing & Soul with Gabi Szűcs turns Kaposvár into a smooth, brassy goodbye to the month’s grand New Year overture.
