The 13th Transparent Sound New Music Festival (Átlátszó Hang Újzenei Fesztivál) returns January 9 to February 8, scattering more than twenty concerts and events across the city. International names share space with homegrown talent, while audiences get hands-on with interactive workshops, new-music theater, a film club, and cross-disciplinary happenings that blur the lines between genres and scenes.
Singular // Plural
This year’s theme, Singular // Plural, explores how solo voices collide and collaborate, spotlighting the tension and chemistry between individual expression and collective creation. Expect the color-saturated clash of different artistic worlds: intimate solos rubbing shoulders with adventurous ensembles, improvisers meeting composers, and sound artists teaming up with performers and filmmakers.
All Over Town
Multiple venues keep things moving, turning the festival into a citywide treasure hunt for boundary-pushing sound. Whether you’re there for fresh premieres, exploratory sessions, or the thrill of hearing music break itself open in real time, Transparent Sound (Átlátszó Hang) packs a month of experiments, encounters, and bold listening into the winter calendar.
