Vibrant programs await elementary and upper-elementary children at the Hungarian National Gallery in Budapest. Playful guided tours, monthly rotating creative workshops, and clubs dive into tales, drama, animation, and nature. Beyond sharing knowledge, museum educators focus on immersive experiences; upon request, gallery visits can be expanded with hands-on studio sessions that deepen the topic through fresh approaches and practical techniques.
Recolor It! – Museum Studio for Kids
January 21, 2026, 4:00–5:30 PM; January 28, 2026, 4:00–5:30 PM. The January sessions of Recolor It! invite kids on a thrilling quest: mysterious stories swirl through the Gallery, and only the sharpest young detectives will do. Together, they’ll track a great painter—uncovering the secrets of Lajos Tihanyi. Expect careful sleuthing through dozens of his works, hunting for hidden details that matter. If they crack the clues, the puzzle will reveal itself. And the art-making stays front and center: as part of the investigation, kids will “forge” paintings, craft a composite sketch, and experiment with photo manipulation.
Children participate independently, without chaperones. After the program, we escort the group back to the information desk at 5:30–5:40 PM.
Meeting point: information desk
Ages: 6–12
Maximum capacity: 15
Program fee: 6.85 USD
The Creative Makerspace runs with a new theme every month and a different program each time. Sessions do not build on one another, so kids can join on any date.
