Pécs’ Zsolnay Cultural Quarter, the former porcelain factory turned arts hub, rolls out a packed slate of temporary and permanent exhibitions from November 30, 2025 to February 22, 2026—blending the Zsolnay legacy with sharp contemporary voices and rising talent. Visitors can dive into design, family histories, and sculptural milestones, plus hands-on workshops that bring iconic objects into the present.
Guided Tours and Family Workshops
On January 30, culture researcher and MOME associate professor Anna Keszeg leads a tour through Designikonok – tegnap és ma (Design Icons – Yesterday and Today), unpacking iconic objects and the stories behind them from a contemporary angle.
On January 31, the “Kortársék” family creative labs kick off in the Product Design room from 16:00–18:00 with “Let’s Design Objects!” exploring function, the extremes of creativity, and free thinking before sketching and shaping ideas. The same day, “In the Footsteps of the Zsolnay Family” offers a walk through the family’s former home, while Zsolnay aranykora – Gyugyi gyűjtemény (Zsolnay’s Golden Age – Gyugyi Collection) hosts discovery tours on January 31–February 1.
Heritage, Curators, and City Ties
February 6 brings a curator-led tour by Valéria Fekete. On February 7, “Zsolnay and Pécs” guides visitors through the Family and Factory History exhibition, with more discovery walks in the Gyugyi Collection on February 7–8. February 14 features “Secrets of the Zsolnay Girls” at Sikorski Villa, a roughly 90-minute deep dive, alongside further Gyugyi Collection tours on February 14–15.
Light, Sound, and Design
On February 21, the “Kortársék” workshop returns in the Lamp Room from 16:00–18:00 with an “Electronics Tinker Lab // Light Garland.” Inspired by Czechoslovak and Hungarian lamps of the 1950s–80s, participants craft custom light garlands with help from PTE Electronic Music and Media Arts students. That day also revives the Zsolnay family home walk, followed by more Gyugyi Collection discovery tours on February 21–22.
Major Exhibitions at m21 Galéria
From November 30, 2025 to February 22, 2026, “Az anyag válasza” (The Material’s Answer) surveys nearly six decades of sculptor Sándor Kecskeméti’s work—one of Hungarian contemporary sculpture’s most rigorous and sensitive oeuvres. Discovery tours and family home walks continue on February 28. On March 21, “Kortársék” closes with a 16:00–18:00 bag workshop inspired by NUBU’s boundary-pushing fashion-meets-art pieces. Designikonok – tegnap és ma runs December 12, 2025 to March 29, 2026, anchored by Salvador Dalí’s limited-edition Objet Inutile for Alessi Design Factory—spotlighting the fertile edge where design meets fine art.
