The Hungarian National Gallery rolls out a packed February of guided tours in Hungarian and English across its permanent and temporary exhibitions, tracing the birth and evolution of Hungarian visual art.
Spotlight on Lajos Tihanyi
Feb 5 opens with “Lajos Tihanyi, the Restless Charmer,” led by Nóra Winkler and Tünde Topor in Budapest, followed on Feb 6 by “Budapest–Berlin–Paris: Lajos Tihanyi’s Road to Abstraction,” guided by writer and art historian Rita Halász. “Rebellious Forms, Bold Colors – The Art of Lajos Tihanyi” returns on Feb 8 and Feb 11–12, with an English-language tour on Feb 13 titled “Rebellious Forms, Bold Colors – The Art of Lajos Tihanyi.” There’s also a French-titled session on Feb 8: “Budapest–Berlin–Paris. L’art de Lajos Tihanyi.” An online tour of the Tihanyi show lands Feb 3, with a special Feb 14 lecture by art historian Gergely Barki: “Two or None: Doublings and Gaps in Lajos Tihanyi’s Oeuvre.”
Adolf Fényes in Focus
“Adolf Fényes’s Art” anchors Feb 7, 21, and 28, plus a curator-led walk by Ágnes Horváth on Feb 15, and an online tour on Feb 10. The major exhibition “Images of Silence: Adolf Fényes (1867–1945) Memorial Exhibition” runs Oct 10, 2025–Mar 15, 2026.

Feb 14 brings “The Most Beautiful Hungarian Love Paintings,” “Love Is in the Air,” and a musical tour with Ádám Bősze and Gábor Bellák.
