Born In Transition: Art Raised Between Walls

Born in Transition explores artists shaped between the Berlin Wall’s fall and 9

The exhibition Born in Transition spotlights artists who grew up between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the destruction of the World Trade Center (Világkereskedelmi Központ), tracing how those years shaped their perspective from childhood through adulthood. On view until February 14, it captures the “long nineties” in all their messy contradictions—personal memories, social shifts, and the charged mix of fear, hope, and nostalgia that clung to an entire generation.

From Socialism’s Echoes to Capitalist Whiplash

The works confront the tangled legacy of socialism and the jolt of market capitalism, mapping how identities were rebuilt in a world suddenly open, unequal, and loud. Western mass culture floods in; so do mysticism, spirituality, and esotericism, embraced as meaning-making tools in a decade of upheaval.

Techno Utopias, Rave Nightmares

The show leans into the era’s ecstatic fantasies—techno dreams, club culture, rave as ritual—while refusing to look away from its traumas. It’s a portrait of transition that still vibrates, where loss and longing coexist with invention and escape.
