Budapest’s Palace of Wonders (Csodák Palotája) is throwing a playful curveball on February 7–8, 2026: a carnival-themed Knowledge Labyrinth packed with skill and logic challenges for families. Kids arriving in costume earn a FREE child ticket for their next visit, and all extras are included with a Csopa admission. Recommended for ages 3 and up.
Games, Puzzles, Photo Ops
Dive into the carnival maze and try the Giant Stepper (Lepegető óriás), Wooden Spoon Race (Fakanál futam), and a giant memory game bursting with festive images. Test your aim in Target Toss – Juggler’s Slip-Up (Célbadobás – Zsonglőr baki), gather around tabletop games, and hunt for clues in Cheese Board – Where Did My Nose Go? (Sajtdeszka – Hová lett az orrom?). Snap it all at the carnival photo point, then crack the Carnival Brain Teaser (Farsangi fejtörő). Every interactive exhibit in the center is open to play.
Science Shows Every Day
The Öveges Theater stages four daily shows:
11:00 Bubble Show (Buborék Show)
13:00 Spectacular Science (Látványos tudomány)
15:00 Richter Gedeon Science Show (Richter Gedeon SCIENCE SHOW)
17:00 Glowing Stage (Izzó Színpad)
Head to the Richter Gedeon Laboratory for hands-on experiments. Make your carnival weekend a family science sprint in Budapest, February 7–8.

Pros
+
Super family-friendly: hands-on games, puzzles, photo ops, and daily science shows keep kids (3+) and parents busy for hours
+
Extra value: all carnival activities included with standard Csopa admission, plus a free future child ticket for kids in costume
+
No Hungarian required: exhibits are interactive, staff usually speak English, and science demos are easy to follow visually
+
Easy access: Budapest has solid public transport; the Palace of Wonders is reachable by metro/bus/tram and ride-hails; driving and parking are manageable outside core rush hours
+
Location is in a major European capital well-known to U.S. tourists, so you can pair it with classic Budapest sights and thermal baths
+
Internationally familiar vibe: science-center format and carnival games feel like what you’d see at U.S. science museums, so it’s comfortable and low-friction
+
Strong comparison: compared with similar U.S. children’s museums, this offers multiple daily science shows plus a themed maze for the same ticket price
Cons
–
The event dates are limited (Feb 7–8, 2026), so timing may not match typical U.S. school breaks
–
Palace of Wonders isn’t a globally famous landmark, so it might not be on first-time Budapest itineraries without advance planning
–
Some signage and show titles are in Hungarian; occasional language gaps could reduce depth of explanations
–
If you’re car-free and staying far from the venue, weekend transit frequency and winter weather could slow the trip
