Dates, Times, Theme
Color It Anew! — museum workshop for kids runs on February 11, 18, and 25 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. How did people live long ago? What do images tell us about the past? We’ll time-travel through paintings, genre scenes, portraits, and old photos to peek into everyday life — the objects people used, how they dressed, what they played, and what they dreamed of. Then we’ll draw, paint, make comics, and invent our own stories inspired by what we see.
Who, Where, How
Ages: 6–12. Max group size: 15. Kids attend independently, without guardians. After the session, children are escorted as a group back to the information desk between 5:30 and 5:40 p.m. Meeting point: information desk.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe with creative, hands-on art fun for ages 6–12, perfect for kids who like drawing, painting, and comics
+
Held inside the Hungarian National Gallery, a major, easy-to-love museum that adds wow-factor for first-time visitors
+
Topic—art and “everyday life in the past”—is universally understandable, so kids can connect even without deep background
+
Great value: about $6.90 per session and a discounted monthly pass
+
Centrally located in Buda Castle, a famous area most tourists already plan to visit
+
Easy access: trams, buses, castle shuttle, and taxis get you close; rideshares and car drop-offs are straightforward
+
Small group (max 15) means more personal attention and a calmer experience than big museum kids’ rooms
Cons
–
Kids attend without guardians, which may not suit younger or anxious children—or parents who want to stay
–
Limited English details; some activities or instructions may be in Hungarian, so non‑Hungarian speakers could miss nuances
–
Runs only on specific Wednesdays from 4:00–5:30 p.m., which can clash with sightseeing schedules or jet lag
–
Compared with kids’ art programs in big US/UK museums, it’s shorter and less language-adapted, though cheaper and more intimate
