Esztergom Hosts Then And Now Vehicle Expo 2026

Discover Esztergom’s free Then and Now Vehicle Expo 2026: classic veterans, custom builds, and American cars along the Danube—family-friendly, festival vibes, stories, and innovation on wheels.
when: 2026.04.25., Saturday - 2026.04.26., Sunday

Date: April 25–26, 2026 (Saturday–Sunday). Location: 2500 Esztergom, 1 Nagy Duna Promenade (Nagy Duna sétány 1), by the Rugby Club—where the past meets today’s top models. If you love cars, motorcycles, and anything on wheels, this weekend is a must: iconic classics, freshly built showstoppers, and American iron will line up side by side to show how technology and design have evolved over the decades.

Free Exhibition and Festival Atmosphere

The free Veteran, Custom-Built, and American Car exhibition and festival is open all day on both days. Chrome classics and today’s high-performance machines will roll out to the Danube riverfront, so you get both nostalgia and innovation at once. The event is family-friendly and a great experience for both car enthusiasts and curious newcomers. Clubs and owners are happy to share stories about their rare finds, restorations, builds, and American icons.

Important Information

The organizers reserve the right to change the date and program, so it’s worth checking the event details before you go. On the last weekend of April, Esztergom will be the capital of vehicle culture.

Pros
+
Free entry makes it an easy, low-risk add-on to a Hungary trip
+
Family-friendly vibe on the Danube riverfront; lots to see for kids and gearheads alike
+
Mix of American classics and modern showstoppers feels familiar to U.S. car fans while adding European flavor
+
Esztergom is a scenic historic town near Budapest, so you can pair the expo with basilica/castle sightseeing
+
No Hungarian needed—car culture is visual, owners/clubs are chatty, and many locals speak some English
+
Easy logistics: about 1–1.5 hours from Budapest by train+bus or car; riverside location is straightforward to find
+
Good value versus U.S. car meets—similar spectacle, different regional models, and a festival atmosphere - Esztergom isn’t as internationally famous as Budapest, so first-timers may overlook it or need extra planning
Cons
Subject is niche outside car/moto circles; casual tourists might tire after a couple hours
Public transport requires a transfer (train to bus/walk), and parking could be tight during peak hours
Program/date may change, so you’ll need to double-check details close to travel time
