Hop across Lake Balaton on a Sunday and spend the day chasing flavors, views, and vines. Depart either by fast boat from Fonyód or by the Szent Benedek sightseeing ship from Balatonfenyves to Badacsony, then continue by minibus to the beloved Káptalantóti Craft Market. There’s a solid 1.5 hours of browsing, tasting, and free time before picking one of two wine‑soaked afternoon add‑ons. This is the lakeside weekend plan that basically writes itself—boats, boutique producers, and panoramic cellars.
Two Ways to Reach the Market
Option one: leave from Fonyód by fast boat, glide into Badacsony, then hop a minibus to the Káptalantóti Market for 90 minutes of shopping and free time. Price: 9,000 HUF per person (about 25.33 USD). Runs every Sunday, departure at 10:00, back by 15:00.
Option two: sail from Balatonfenyves aboard the Szent Benedek sightseeing ship, arrive in Badacsony, continue by minibus to the market for the same 1.5 hours on the ground. Price: 12,000 HUF per person (about 33.78 USD). Also every Sunday, 10:00–15:00.
Both options operate only with prior arrangement and booking. The Fonyód route requires at least 10 participants; the Balatonfenyves route needs at least 15. Regular scheduled services aren’t bound by these minimums.
Pick Your Afternoon Adventure
After the market, choose one of two curated excursions:
– Folly Arboretum & Winery: 90 minutes of free time in the terraced arboretum, plus a tasting of three drinks—choose syrups or wines.
– Badacsony Wine Tour: visits to Istvándy and Laposa wineries, each pouring three wines per estate.
From Fonyód, the market plus afternoon add‑on costs 16,000 HUF per person (about 45.02 USD). From Balatonfenyves, the combined package is 21,000 HUF per person (about 59.05 USD). Both run Sundays, 10:00–15:00, with the same booking rules and minimum headcounts as above.
