The year-round schedule mixes nature walks, makers’ markets, hands-on workshops, comedy, meditation, and proper party nights—open to all ages, often free, and big on togetherness.
Feb 14: Walks, Glow-Ups, Games, and a Loud Valentine’s
Párban járva – Valentine’s Stroll: Couples, fiancés, spouses, lovebirds, and besties are invited to the edge of the Turján for a lighthearted ramble that’s more playful than scientific. Expect trust games, teamwork challenges, and flirty fun facts from the wild: courtship, mate choice, nest building, jealousy, and the realities of “married life”—or more precisely, “nest life.” Location: Ócsa.
Skincare & Makeup Workshop: Learn how to revive winter-beaten skin and pull off a fresh daytime look. Free with registration. Location: Ócsa.
Flaming Nite: NIGEL STATELY x Love Party – Valentine’s Party in Ócsa: One night of music, glances, and meet-cutes. On deck: NIGEL STATELY, Kozy, Geri, Falco Maxxis, Hit Session (Shoterhand). Love notes on the screens—confessions, anonymous lines, things you wouldn’t say anywhere else. Valentine’s drinks to share with your partner or crush. Wristbands say it all: green for single, red for taken. The vibe’s set; the rest is up to you. Location: Ócsa.
Board Game Club: Every second Saturday, a free, social board-gaming afternoon for kids and adults. 14:00–15:30 in the meeting room for kids 9+. No partner? You’ll find one here—and discover offline thrills. 15:00–19:00 in the atrium for adults, with exciting new titles. Waldorf Doll Workshop: Monthly Saturday meet-up (14:00–17:00) at the Egressy Gábor Leisure Center. Learn to make Waldorf dolls: palm dolls, elf dolls, and hair dolls. Craft while chatting openly about parenting challenges—together is easier. Bring your own tools (scissors, needles, pins) or use theirs. Feb 21 – Storytelling-Crafting Afternoon at the Family Tinkering Club: Marking the 100th birthday of Éva Janikovszky and International Mother Language Day, families gather for a story-led creative session. First, a Kamishibai paper-theater tale, then paper-mâché dachshunds Bertalan and Barnabás take shape. Learn to make traditional paste glue (csiriz) and where to use it. Feb 25 – Two-in-One: Szomszédnéni Produkciós Iroda Solo Night: A Dumaszínház favorite in a combo show—Tóth Szabolcs’s “Happiness – I Want to Talk About It” meets “Ferenc Bálint Is Looking for a Wife.” Szabolcs asks what ranks higher: first love, a beach holiday, or labeling bottles in a bottling plant? Why do people tumble into booze or drugs—and why never bike there? Ferenc riffs on never trying Tinder or Bumble because his wife wouldn’t allow it, his beef with Tom Cruise, what it takes to be the man of the house, and how to overreact properly. Mar 1: Ramsar UFO Run and a Sweet-Scented Opening
Ramsar UFO Run: Celebrating the Ramsar Convention—the world’s oldest intergovernmental nature accord protecting wetlands—organizers and the Ócsa Folk House host a community run. One of Hungary’s 29 protected wetlands is the Ócsa Turjános. Start at the Folk House, head to Selyem-rét (Silk Meadow), with a refreshment stop at the Selyem Meadow parking lot. Total 6.2 miles round-trip, mostly trail with some asphalt. Finish with open-faced lard bread and hot tea. Free. Location: Ócsa.
Lavender Cookie Making at the Folk House: Bake divine lavender cookies with Erika Judit Ujszászi—from kneading to baking to tasting. This add-on requires an extra ticket; regular Folk House entry is bought at the ticket office. Location: Ócsa.
The Folk House Reopens: With spring’s arrival, the homesteads wake from winter. Doors swing open with guided tours, tea, and fragrant cookies. Come see what’s new this year. Location: Ócsa.
Mar 8: Pantry Market and Bog Boot Camp
Pantry-Stocking Mini-Market: Every second Sunday in the Folk House yards. Quality goods from nearby farmers and National Park–trademarked producers. Entry is ticketed so you can shop in an authentic setting—rest on benches, join tours, soak in heritage. Local Ócsa residents with ID are prioritized after lessons from the first market. Vendors vary; updates will note who’s in. Bottom line: markets are good—buy, chat, feel great, and take real treasures home. Location: Ócsa.
Walking the Bog – Family Rubber-Boot Tour: A family adventure into the wetlands of Turjánvidék—skirting waterlogged woodland, crossing damp meadows, learning bog-walking tricks, and spotting spring’s slow awakening. Rubber boots required; recommended from age 5. No boot rental. Tour runs with at least 10 sign-ups. Online tickets only. Location: Ócsa. Tickets: about $4.85–$7.30.

Mar 14 – Madagascar Small Pet Exhibition: Photo ops with a macaw and a parade of adorable animals, plus a petting corner. Location: Ócsa.

Mar 22 – Life-Giving Waters – Family Morning and Crafts at the Ócsa Folk House: On World Water Day, park rangers deliver a compelling, sometimes funny, sometimes gut-punch talk on safeguarding our waters long-term and what we can do at home, in our town, and across the country. Expect creatures of the water too—and a craft session making your own felt animal. Craft participation requires an online craft ticket. Hosted with Duna–Ipoly National Park (Duna–Ipoly Nemzeti Park) at the Ócsa Folk House. Tickets: about $5.35.
Mar 29: In the Footsteps of the Bog People
Rubber-Boot Trek into the deep swamp forest, weaving between stilt-rooted alders, hopping tussock to tussock, and wading through water up to your boot tops. Once, only locals who knew the marsh dared enter; now you can explore its undisturbed hush with a guide. Long-shaft rubber boots are mandatory. Ages 12+ only. Location: Ócsa.
