The calendar brims with musical fairy tales, puppet adventures, and a quirky Easter race, mostly staged at the Kálmán Imre Cultural Center’s main theater. Feb 16, 2026 – Világszép nádszál kisasszony
Monday, 10:00. The Magyar Népmese Színház (Hungarian Folk Tale Theater) presents Világszép nádszál kisasszony (The Reed-Thin Beauty of the World) as a one-act musical tale, part of the Kisvakond season pass, at the Kálmán Imre Cultural Center theater hall. During his brother’s wedding, a prince vows that his bride will be the most beautiful in the whole wide world. Such a girl exists—none other than the Reed-Thin Beauty of the World. To free her from a witch’s captivity, he must brave heaven and hell, aided by marvelous helpers, until the trials end in a joyful wedding. Whoever can make her laugh wins her hand and half the kingdom.” All contenders fail—until a mysterious shepherd appears with a golden-fleeced lamb. The classic story gets a fresh spin from two contemporary Hungarian creators: gorgeous songs, talented young singer-actors, and sumptuous sets deliver a modern retelling. As in the best tales, the good are rewarded—the prince finds Cinderella, they throw a grand feast, and live happily ever after.
