Gyula’s year is packed. The historic spa town strings together castle nights by candlelight, museum talks, comedy, theater, foodie detours, and dog-friendly happenings across Gyula Castle (Gyulai Vár), the Gyula Castle Theatre (Gyulai Várszínház), the Almásy Mansion Visitor Center (Almásy-kastély Látogatóközpont), the Gyula Castle Bath (Gyulai Várfürdő), and more. Plan ahead: many programs run weekly with guaranteed slots, and big weekends stack up fast from February into summer.
February 20–22 launches guaranteed programs at Gyula Castle. On February 22, the Almásy Mansion opens Corset and Revolution (Fűző és forradalom), while Yours Truly 2026 lands in town. Families can join the Castle Tour with Dönci the Dachshund (Kastélytúra Tacskó Döncivel), and the Ladics House (Ladics-ház) serves The Empress’s Cup (Császárné csészéje). February 23 brings Belvárosi barangoló, a downtown sightseeing walk.
By February 24–27, the corsets return, the Ladics House cup theme repeats, and beer lovers get a Sörházi beugró at Elixbeer Brewery with tours and tastings. On February 25, Gyulakult stages Szabó Magda: Abigail (Abigél) for 8,900–9,900 HUF, paired with a Museum Free University talk: Herod, Jesus and the Holy City (Heródes, Jézus és a Szent Város). February 27 adds Masters of Illusion (Az Illúzió Mesterei) and another city walk, alongside the weekend’s guaranteed castle programs (Feb 27–Mar 1).
February 28 layers on The Castle by Candlelight (A kastély gyertyafényben), Candlelit Castle Tours (Gyertyafényes vártúrák), Countly Passions – Treasures of Almásy Castle (Grófi passziók – Az Almásy-kastély kincsei), and Gyula Castle: Field of Doom – Mohács (Gyulai Vár: A végzet mezeje – Mohács). March 1 repeats the dachshund castle tour.
On March 4, the Castle Theatre screens the award-winning film Az Alzheimer with a post-show talk. March 5, Clauságok features Liptai Claudia’s solo evening. March 6–8: more guaranteed castle programs. March 7 brings The Castle by Candlelight, the Cellar Exhibition (Pincetárlat) at Almásy, Candlelit Castle Tours, a six-course dinner at La Sposa Caffè: The Chef’s Dinner (A Séf vacsorája), and at the Castle Theatre: János Lackfi: Three Women, One Case (Lackfi János: Három nő, egy eset) at 6,900 HUF.
March 8 returns Dönci’s tour. March 11, La Sposa Caffè hosts Stage and Life (Színpad és élet) with Péter Scherer. March 13, Dumaszínház stages Obliged by the Wage – Life Is Different: Péter Janklovics (A bér kötelez – Az élet máshogy van: Janklovics Péter) for 8,190–9,690 HUF, kicking off another guaranteed castle weekend (Mar 13–15). March 14–15 adds candlelit tours, Women’s Salon – Treasures of Almásy Castle (Női szalon – Az Almásy-kastély kincsei), and The Castle by Candlelight, plus another dachshund tour.
March 21 features Candlelit Castle Tours, Speaking Flowers (Beszédes virágok) at Almásy, and the Almásy Mansion Visitor Center’s Dachshund Meetup 2026 (Tacskótalálkozó 2026). March 22 brings back Dönci. March 25 features at the Castle Theatre: Valeriu Butulescu: Bolyai for 200 HUF and a Museum Free University lecture on March 15, 1848. March 27–29: guaranteed castle programs, while March 28 stacks Candlelit Tours, Ball at the Castle (Bál a Kastélyban) with cellist Felicián Kalmus, Countly Passions, Mohács at the Castle, and The Castle by Candlelight. March 29: dachshund tour.
