Budapest Tour: Baselitz’s Mannerist Eye Unveiled

Explore Georg Baselitz’s Mannerist Eye in Budapest: curator-led tours reveal rare 16th‑century prints, elegant distortion, and bold asymmetry at the Museum of Fine Arts. Limited spots, budget-friendly tickets.
when: 2026. February 23., Monday

Join a curator-led journey into Georg Baselitz’s astonishing world of Mannerist prints in Budapest, where the German artist’s private passion takes center stage. Famous for monumental paintings and sculptures, Baselitz has spent over six decades collecting exclusively Mannerist prints—amassing one of the world’s most significant collections. This exhibition opens a window onto the mid-16th-century generation that broke from Renaissance harmony in favor of elegant distortion, daring asymmetry, and a bizarre, high-impact visual language that mirrors Baselitz’s own uncompromising convictions.
