Step into 14th-century Visegrád every Saturday this season with Hungary’s one-of-a-kind knightly tournament at Solomon Tower (Salamon-torony) and a regal banquet at the Renaissance Restaurant. The Order of Saint George (Szent György Lovagrend) stages a spectacular show where warriors vie for the favor of a king and queen chosen from the audience—both are draped in royal capes and crowned before the contests begin.
At the king’s command, armored knights march in and prove their aim and dueling skills with authentic medieval weapons before the royal couple and their guests. The duels are thrilling, true to the period, and often laced with humor, honoring the boldness and audacity of medieval chivalry. A royal hunting falcon takes flight to heighten the atmosphere. After the show, guests can handle and try medieval weapons with guidance from the knights. Dining is available before or after at the Renaissance Restaurant.
