when: 2026. February 24., Tuesday

Visegrád is turning back the clock to the 14th century with the 2026 Knights’ Games and Feast, a family favorite running every Saturday at noon through the fall. Book early and claim a spot in the live medieval city by the Danube. The Renaissance Restaurant is your host, staging a full medieval spectacle and a royal banquet at Duna-parti út 1, with the Palotaház (Palace House) as the arena.

Armor, Falcons, and a Crown for You

Members of the Order of Saint George storm the field to show how warriors once fought for the king’s and queen’s favor in medieval Visegrád. At the start, the knights pick a king and queen from the audience, robe and crown them, then march in to prove their aim and dueling skills with period weapons. The clashes are immersive, occasionally cheeky, and capped with a royal falcon flight. At the end, guests can handle and try the weapons with the knights’ help. The show runs in Hungarian, German, English, and Italian, with interpreters available for other languages. Groups of 30+ can book at any time.

Pros
+
Super family-friendly: kids can be crowned king/queen, handle safe demo weapons, and enjoy a falcon show, while adults get history and a big feast
+
Multilingual show (Hungarian, German, English, Italian) means U.S. visitors won’t miss the story or jokes
+
Visegrád’s medieval theme is easy to grasp internationally—knights, jousts, and castles are universally familiar
+
Location is fairly well-known to foreign visitors as a classic Danube Bend day trip near Budapest
+
Easy access: frequent buses from Budapest to Visegrád, Danube hydrofoil in season, and straightforward driving/parking along the river
+
No Hungarian required—English narration available and interpreters offered for other languages
+
Good value vs. similar medieval dinner shows in Western Europe/US, with a legit historical setting (Solomon Tower, Renaissance Restaurant) - Not as globally famous as, say, Carcassonne jousts or Medieval Times in big U.S. cities, so expectations should be for a local gem, not a mega-production
Cons
Public transport return options can be limited late in the day; driving might be easier for families with kids
Set menu and drinks-not-included may not suit picky eaters or strict dietary needs
Dates can change and booking is only via email with the restaurant, which feels old-school and less convenient for travelers
