when: 2026. February 28., Saturday

2026 brings the seventh Boglart Festival to the shores of Lake Balaton, running August 26–30 at Babel Camp, 8630 Balatonboglár (Balatonboglar), Szabadság utca (Liberty Street) 28. It’s part intimate folk–world music fest, part hands-on music camp, plus an industry forum and showcase. Days are for learning; nights explode across two stages before the folk pub keeps the dance floor alive till dawn. Kids under 10 get in free.

Folk roots, global pulse

Boglart’s magic is the double life it leads: a creative learning space by day and a communal concert experience by night. That harmony of study, sound, and summer by the lake has made it a standout in Hungary’s—and the region’s—festival calendars, uniquely fusing a music camp with a full-on festival vibe.

Lineup and learning

Freshly announced: Belgium’s Enara Navaira, Senegal’s Afrikora, Istria’s Veja, plus Hungary’s Okos Viola, Obadu, and resident hosts Góbé. Boglart’s hallmark is how artists double as tutors in daytime workshops—from Moldavian and string-band folk techniques to music industry know-how. Each concert night wraps with a táncház dance and a world-electronic afterglow.

Showcase and tickets

Back by popular demand, the showcase block gathers Hungarian and international professionals to meet and brainstorm. First artist drops land in the second half of November, with very low-priced passes available until then: festival passes, combo passes, 48-hour tickets, and day tickets. New discounts now apply to under-18s, over-64s, and teachers. If you’re applying for the course or the showcase and qualify for discounts, mix discounted passes/day tickets with course passes/day tickets for the best deal. Dates: August 26–30, 2026. Location: Balatonboglár (Balatonboglar).

2025, adrienne

International flavor with artists from Belgium, Senegal, and Istria, not just Hungarian acts
+
Location on Lake Balaton adds beach time and summer chill to the music-camp mix
+
Discounts for under-18s, over-64s, and teachers make it budget-friendly
+
Easy enough to reach: trains from Budapest to Balatonboglár and short walks/taxis to Babel Camp; driving via M7 is straightforward
+
Unique format (camp + festival + industry showcase) offers deeper access than typical folk/world fests
Cons
Not a globally famous brand-name festival, so friends back home may not recognize it
Balatonboglár is less known to U.S. visitors than Budapest or Vienna, so expect a quieter, local scene
Some workshops, signage, or chatter may lean on Hungarian; English likely works but not everywhere
Public transit at night is limited around the lake; late finishes may require taxis or a designated driver
