Pápa rolls into 2026 with exhibitions, concerts, theater, film screenings, museum workshops, foodie pop-ups, sports, and a stack of guaranteed and optional leisure programs. The town’s headline sights are the Pannonia Reformata Museum, the Esterházy Palace, and the Blue-Dye Museum (Kékfestő Múzeum), and the calendar’s packed from spring through summer.
On March 5, recorder virtuoso Dániel Szurasenkó launches his solo series “BACH 275” at the Reformed Old Church of Pápa. Tickets run from $11.20 to $11.20. The same day, he also performs a separate concert in town, serving double Baroque energy. March 6 brings a Women’s Day market, while March 10 is pure laughs with Kettő az egyben! – the Szomszédnéni Produkciós Iroda stand-up night at the Dumaszínház, hosted at the Petőfi Cinema. Tickets go from $17.60 to $21.50.
On March 12, psychologist Noémi Orvos-Tóth gives a talk at the Mór Jókai Cultural and Leisure Center: “How Do We Break Inherited Family Patterns?” Then March 14 lands a big one: the Csík Band (Csík Zenekar) plays in the Esterházy Palace courtyard, tickets $11.20.
April 20 features protocol expert Ibolya Görög with “Everyday Protocol – Even at the Table!” at Sándor Petőfi High School, tickets $15.70 flat. The Edvy Malom Fogadó Baroque Courtyard Inn is a restored watermill in a calm setting 1.9 miles from the Pápa Thermal Bath, sleeping 22—ideal for families. Prefer central? Multiple guesthouses in the city center welcome guests. Holdkő Guesthouse (Holdkő Panzió) offers a cozy, three-story setup with 14 rooms, each floor styled differently but with the same quality, tailored to varied needs. Várkert Thermal Camping, beside the Várkert Bath (Várkertfürdő), is Hungary’s first and only five-star-standard campsite, acclaimed by several international camping bodies.
Rooms across guesthouses typically host 2–3 guests and come with in-room fridge, microwave, cable TV, Wi‑Fi, and shower blocks. Covered terraces out front are perfect for evening wine and chats. Breakfast is served on the terrace in good weather or to the room on request. Parking is free.
Pannonia Reformata Café and Wine Bar in downtown Pápa pours specialty coffees, hot drinks, iced sodas, soft serve, toasties, cakes, and a broad beer and wine list. A beloved restaurant since April 1993 keeps a simple rule: the guest comes first. In the heart of downtown, another spot offers a homey vibe, with a lively terrace from spring to fall and a winter garden in colder months; expect Hungarian classics, Italian and Mexican favorites, burgers, salads, and desserts—fit for friendly cocktails or business dinners alike. There’s also a fun hangout with coffee, hot chocolate, toasties, draft beer, darts, ping-pong, and Xbox, plus space for company parties and family events. At the Várkert Bath (Várkertfürdő), find a self-service restaurant for bathers between the pool and thermal areas, and an à la carte restaurant open to all.
The Somló Wine Order, founded in 1992 in Hungary’s smallest historic wine region, works to preserve and elevate Somló’s reputation and traditions, boost the local economy and tourism, and enrich cultural values.
