Visegrád Knights’ Games Return Every Saturday

Experience live medieval combat, falconry, and a royal feast in Visegrád every Saturday at Solomon Tower, hosted by Renaissance Restaurant. Family-friendly, multilingual shows by Saint George Knightly Order.
when: 2026. March 10., Tuesday

Step into living medieval Visegrád this fall as the Knights’ Games and Feast roar back every Saturday at noon in 2026. Hosted by Renaissance Restaurant (Renaissance Étterem), the spectacle unfolds at Solomon Tower (Salamon Tower), where the Saint George Knightly Order brings 14th-century courtly combat to life. A king and queen are chosen from the audience, cloaked and crowned on the spot, then the knights march in to prove their skill with authentic weapons, from precision challenges to bold duels. The battles play out with flair, realism, and a dash of humor, and even feature a royal hunting falcon soaring over the crowd. At the end, guests can handle and try the medieval weapons with guidance from the knights. Dining at Renaissance Restaurant (Renaissance Étterem) is available before or after the show, with programs held in Hungarian, German, English, and Italian; other languages can be arranged with an interpreter. Groups of 30 or more can book at any time.

Pros
+
Family-friendly vibe: audience-picked “king and queen,” falcon show, humor, and hands-on weapon tryouts keep kids and adults engaged
+
Clear English support (plus German and Italian), with interpreters possible, so no Hungarian needed for most visitors
+
Easy weekend planning: guaranteed every Saturday at noon, with a tidy schedule from tower briefing to feast
+
Good value for a full show + big medieval lunch for under $40 per adult, half for kids
+
Visegrád is close to Budapest and well-known for its castle and Danube Bend views, so it’s an easy add-on to a Budapest trip
+
Reachable by public transport (train/bus/boat combos from Budapest) or car in about an hour, with scenic routes
+
The Knights’ Games offer hands-on, small-scale authenticity you don’t always get at larger European medieval shows
Cons
International name recognition of “Visegrád Knights’ Games” is modest compared to big medieval festivals in the UK, France, or Spain
Program times and details can change, and booking is only via the restaurant with email sign-up, which can feel old-school
Drinks at the feast aren’t included, and the hearty meat-heavy menu may be tricky for vegetarians or picky eaters
Limited to Saturdays at noon, so it can be hard to fit if you’ve got a packed Budapest itinerary
