Tikk-takk Bumm! (Tick, Tick… Boom!)
The next night, Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m., catch Jonathan Larson’s autobiographical musical Tikk-takk Bumm!, first staged Off-Broadway in New York and now a global smash—Netflix turned it into an award-winning film in 2021. As composer Jon nears his 30th birthday, he grapples with big questions: Where’s his career at? Will he make it big? Is this even his path? It’s almost 30, and something real has to happen. Follow three young lives: Jon, the struggling composer; Michael, his best buddy who ditched acting for PR; and Susan, Jon’s dancer girlfriend still chasing her big break. It feels like an intimate acoustic club gig by actor Ember Márk as Jon—personal stories of a sensitive artist’s doubts. The three actors slip into multiple roles with live music, tackling Gen Y’s 30-something woes: no wars, no hunger, cushy upbringings, yet terrified of real life, adult responsibilities, commitment, and uncertainty. They muddle through with varying success.
