Szekszárd, famous for its wine tourism, packs the year with standout events. The Babits Mihály Cultural Center offers diverse cultural and traditional programs, festivals, foodie gatherings, concerts, and exhibitions for locals and visitors to the city.
March Kickoff
March 30 brings *Naked Truth*, a musical comedy. March 31 is the application deadline for Talent Palette Program 2026 and Gergő Korsós’s book launch—all in Szekszárd.
April Extravaganza
April explodes with action: Easter Szekszárd Retro Festival on the 5th, *S.Ö.R. – Shakespeare All in Brief* on the 7th, Nagy Dankó Tour 2026 on the 9th. Poetry Day on the 11th features sung and spoken Hungarian lyrical gems. The 14th hosts the Cinege Bird (Tolna County) folk song and music contest. Bartina Folk Dance Association celebrates its 60th anniversary with a meeting and gala on the 18th. Catch Agora classical afternoons with Vivaldi’s *Four Seasons* on the 19th. Robin Hawdon’s *One Lover is Plenty* hits the Cultural Center theater on April 21 ($20-$22). That day also features Culture Sips University on candle lighting at Ethiopia’s Erta Ale volcano. Singing Youth Gala Concert on the 24th, XIII Fedorka-Neverwas Poetry Day and Alisca Brass Band solo on the 25th. *American Comedy* swing musical on the 27th ($23-$26). April 29 doubles up with Forrás Folk Dance Ensemble’s *Road Companion* dance theater and World Dance Day.
May and June Highlights
May 5: Fejes Endre and Presser Gábor’s *Good Evening Summer, Good Evening Love* musical about a hooligan. Culture Sips on Uzbekistan from Tashkent to the Aral Sea on the 12th. László Lakatos’s *I’m Back* solo with Oliver Wolf opening on the 14th ($22). Gergő Kovács song recital on May 15 ($12). Wine Region Half Marathon on the 16th. Cserháti Zsuzsa and Máté Péter memorial concert on May 21 at the Cultural Center ($25). June *Pocahontas* shows by Topolcsányi Laura and Maráth Viktor: elementary, preschool, and plus versions on the 10th-11th, all $7. Apostol concert on June 13 ($29-$36).
Fall Closers
September 7: Endre and Katalin Hegedűs violin-piano recital. November 6: Gergely Rákász plays Mozart ($15). Film music concert caps it on November 24. Organizers reserve the right to tweak dates and programs!
