March 31: Relatives – A Two-Act Play
Hevesi Sándor Várszínház brings Relatives (Rokonok), the fourth show in the 2025/2026 Festetics season subscription. Catch it March 31 at 7 p.m. Subscription prices are $60 or $71 for four shows; single tickets $18 or $21. This key piece of Hungarian literature dives deep into social critique without turning into a mere pamphlet. It explores the nature of power gone wrong, plus the twisted paths of the human soul. Hidden loves, messy marriage games, family, emotional, and financial blackmail pave the road from self-assertion to self-destruction. Young Kopjáss István gets elected chief prosecutor of Zsarátnok over a corrupt rival. He’s clean, pockets empty but head full of grand, world-saving plans. But the job brings not just power for good, but a swarm of old and new “relatives.” The plot is layered and sensitive, thrilling with twists, and the character work makes for rich entertainment.
April 1: Pierrot and Prigozsin in Life’s Whirl
Free national manhunt tour hits Keszthely April 1 at 7 p.m., running 110 minutes, for ages 14+. Kettőspont Színház tours three spots in the campaign finale, backed by the Two-Tailed Dog Party’s 3rd Rózsa Sándor People’s Campaign Money Squander Fund and welcoming venues. It’s a culture-meets-community vibe. Pierrot (Ács Tamás) and Prigozsin (Formanek Csaba) push the boundaries of clown art to touch souls deeply, but they struggle to find meaning without their third member. Inspired by François Truffaut’s Jules and Jim, with Ács’s ideas, Formanek wrote and directed this odd love triangle tale spanning places and times, unfolding a comic yet heart-wrenching friendship and two twisty life paths.
