It’s the fourth show in the 2025/2026 Festetics season. This cornerstone of Hungarian literature skewers society without turning into a mere pamphlet. It dives deep into power’s pitfalls, hidden loves, twisted marriages, family blackmail, self-assertion gone wrong, and self-destruction. Young KopjĂĄss IstvĂĄn gets elected chief prosecutor in ZsarĂĄtnok over a corrupt rival. He’s pure-hearted with empty pockets but a head full of world-saving ideas. But the job brings powerâand a swarm of old and new “relatives.” The plot is layered and sensitive, thrilling with twists, and the character work makes for rich entertainment.
