April’s Packed Lineup
Kick off April 7-10 with free spring craft workshops for disadvantaged local kids and youth at Deák F. út 1—register in advance. IT courses for over-65s take place at Csigaház on the 8th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, and 24th. Catch free Deáktanya talks open to everyone: Csapó Beatrix on Gödöllő’s social garden (9th), Tillmann Kinga on backpacking in South America (16th), Telekiné Kovács Ágnes on King Matthias’s corvinas (23rd), and Kardos Ferenc sharing child protection stories (30th)—join the Kistarcsai Cultural Association too. More highlights: local history walk at the cemetery (11th), Baby-Mama Book Club at the city library (13th), Retro Quiz Night at Csigaház (17th), painters’ exhibition (18th-19th), and a wine tour (25th).
May Highlights
Lakatos László’s solo show Megjöttem (I’m Back), with opening act Oliver Wolf, rocks Dumaszínház at Csigaház on May 8th—tickets $21. Unveiling of the birth stool on May 10th. Deáktanya adds Szoták Attila on Klebelsberg Kunó’s ministry (7th), Bödők Gergely on the Transylvanian hound (14th), Szücsné Göblyös Erika on child massage (21st), and Rist Tamás recapping the Budapest-Bamako rally (28th). Kistarcsai Napok (Kistarcsa Days) exhibitions open May 22nd and run through the 24th. Heroes’ Day caps the month on the 31st.
Summer and Beyond
June brings a memorial for Miklós Király (5th) and a craftsmen’s exhibition (20th-21st). September’s KIKE Cultural Week (14th-20th) includes the Görhöny Festival (Görhönyfesztivál) and heritage walk. October features National Evening (10th) and an exhibition on the 70th anniversary of the revolution (23rd-25th). November has Hulló Falevél (Falling Leaves) (8th), and December a World War II memorial (28th).
