April Library Buzz
Kick off on April 9 with Conversation Club at American Corner in Eötvös Károly Library. From 4:30-5:30pm, prepare for language exams, improve your business English, or discuss hot topics like Walt Disney. Free, aimed at high schoolers and up, but all ages welcome. The next day, April 10, catch Nice Summer Day (Szép nyári nap), a Neoton musical at Veres 1 Színház in Hangvilla. That evening at 5pm in Kisfaludy Hall, dive into Widow of Mohács (Mohács özvegye) – Mohács in Literature, with writer Mónika Miklya Luzsányi chatting with literature expert Dr. Zsuzsanna Luchmann. April 13’s Health Day at the library’s Kisfaludy Hall from 4pm is free: Dr. Zoltán Szabó, a dietitian from Pécs, links men’s health to diet at 4pm; 5pm healthy cooking demos with tastings; 7pm Dr. Zsolt Kovács, a family doctor and radiologist from Vas County, on lifestyle changes for type 2 diabetes. Plus body fat and blood pressure checks, lifestyle advice, and shoulder and neck massages. April 14 brings French Club in Dr. László Nagy Hall from 4:30pm – Venez Parler! led by Melanie Wrede and Ildikó Kenyeres. Same day, Story Tuesday (Mesekedd) at Dózsavárosi Branch Library, 4:30pm, with readings from Balázs Gyöngyösi’s I Will Be an Astronaut (Űrhajós leszek) about Tibor Kapu’s space trip, plus space-themed crafts for kids.

April 15-19 hosts the 9th From Soul to Soul Theater Healing Power Festival (Lélektől Lélekig Színház Gyógyító Ereje Fesztivál). April 16 features three events: 5pm in Kisfaludy Hall, Háy János – From Narnia to Easter (HÁY JÁNOS – Narniától húsvétig), with author János Háy talking to László Kilián, literature director at Művészetek Háza; 4:30pm dog therapy in Children’s Library for 3-10-year-olds with valid library cards – meet therapy dog Travell, led by Anikó Jánoska from Doktor Mancsok Foundation (bring spare shoes if rainy); 5pm Photos of the Year 2025 (AZ ÉV FOTÓI 2025) exhibit opening at Dózsavárosi Branch (Szent István út 73), by Bakony Fotóklub, opened by leader Károly Mátyus (MAFOSZ vice president), with students from Dózsa György School performing – view until May 22 during library hours.
