The Veszprém Archdiocese is rolling out a massive 2026 lineup packed with exhibitions, concerts, family and children’s programs, guided tours, themed hikes, educational lectures, holiday celebrations, and church events. From palace concerts to sacred walks and kids’ Bible adventures, there’s something for everyone in this vibrant Hungarian city. Mark your calendars for these highlights spanning spring into early summer.
April’s Packed Schedule Starts Strong
Kick off on April 10 with a palace concert in the Archbishop’s Palace. The next day, April 11, join the remembrance of Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna in Litér. Kids aged 7-10 will love the Biblical Role-Playing series for building social skills and emotional intelligence, hosted on Sundays at Gizella Hall of the Archbishop’s Office (Érseki Hivatal), 8200 Veszprém, Jutasi út 18/2. Sessions run February 15, March 1, 15, 29, April 12, and 26. On April 14, celebrate World Librarians’ Day with a guided tour of the Koller Library. That evening, on the 15th at 7:30 p.m., organists Martin Baker and Kéméndi Tamás team up for a concert in St. Michael’s Cathedral as part of the Organ Subscription Philharmonic series.
Mid-April Faith Walks and Choirs
April 17 brings “With Mindszenty – Homecoming”: a free guided walk at 3:20 p.m. on Friday from the Court building to the Castle Prison Visitor Center, marking József Mindszenty’s return from Arrow Cross captivity as Veszprém’s former bishop. Led by Fr. Dr. Balázs Csernai, spots are limited to the first 20 registrants. April 18 features an expert-led tour for World Heritage Day with Veronika Nagy and Gábor G.-Kovács. On the 19th, St. Michael’s Children’s Choir will sing at the 10:30 a.m. Mass in the cathedral, followed by a short anniversary concert celebrating their third year.
Late April and May-June Highlights
April 25 at 7 p.m. spotlights Várhegyi Organ Evenings I with Tamás Kosóczki. The Biblical Role-Playing continues on April 26. Then, gear up for the Engaged Couples Course (Jegyeskurzus), a free preparation course for marriage and family life over two weekends: May 29-30 and June 5-6. Topics cover marriage spirituality, family roots, communication and conflict resolution, intimacy, differences and pitfalls between men and women, plus child-rearing and family dynamics.
