Budapest’s House of Parliament Museum is launching free guided tours every Saturday for the “A Thousand Years of Hungarian Legislation” (“A magyar törvényhozás ezer éve”) exhibit. These 45-minute tours start at 10 a.m. from the Parliament Visitor Center at Kossuth Square (Kossuth Lajos tér) 1-3, 1055 Budapest, Fifth District (Belváros-Lipótváros). The ever-updating exhibition explores Hungary’s parliamentary roots, birth, and development from the Middle Ages to the 1990 regime change through eight chronological chapters.
Exhibit Breakdown
The first section traces assemblies from their origins to the feudal diets. The second covers the period up to 1918, spotlighting the rise of the modern parliament from reform assemblies through the creation of a representative parliament to the establishment of new principles. The third summarizes the twists, trials, restarts, and rebuilds of 1918–1990. Interactive elements let you explore the Golden Bull, April Laws, plus deeper insights into interwar developments and post-1945 new beginnings.

–
Limited to specific Saturdays in spring 2026, so your trip timing has to match perfectly.
