In Péteri, on Óhegy, the 19th Óhegy Wine Day and Cooking Festival (Óhegyi Bornap és Főzőfesztivál) pops the cork on May 16, 2026, with a full day of food, wine, music, and dancing. The annual celebration spotlights local vineyards and the region’s distinct terroir, pairing tastings with live music and dishes from local chefs. Bring friends, rally the family, and plan for a long, flavorful day in the hills—this is about easygoing vibes, big flavors, and late-night dancing under the stars.

What’s On

The program packs in crowd-pleasers all day: a showdown of cooking teams with prizes, tastings led by local and guest winemakers, stage performances, folk dancers, and an evening Retro Disco that keeps the dance floor buzzing until dawn. Expect around 10 winemakers pouring multiple styles. There will also be free programs, performers, and shows across the site, plus a buffet for those who want more than wine.

Tickets, Wristbands, and Glasses

Entry is open to anyone who supports the Péteri Wine Friends’ Circle (Péteri Borbarát Kör) with USD 8.21. Kids under 14 get in free. Your contribution gets you a branded tasting glass and wristband, and then the festival is yours to roam. With a supporter ticket, you can sample dishes from the cooking competition and taste wines from the winemakers while supplies last. Tastings run on tickets: one supporter ticket equals 3.4 oz of wine, poured only into the logo glass. Extra tasting tickets are available for USD 1.09 each at the entrance and designated points. Food prices vary by team and are clearly posted at each stand.

Cooking Competition: How to Enter

Teams of 2–3 can sign up in one of four categories: Soup; Saucy Dish; Roasts; Other. Only food prepared on-site will be judged. There’s no entry fee, but each team must cook at least 20 portions per dish and offer them to visitors in exchange for supporter tickets. Clearly display dish names and ticket values at your station, and state your dish names when registering. The Péteri Wine Friends’ Circle (Péteri Borbarát Kör) will redeem 66% of the face value of collected supporter tickets.

What Teams Need to Know

Teams must bring their own tasting vessels and cutlery for guests. On arrival, a coordinator will assign your cooking spot; you may briefly drive in to unload, then move your vehicle to the designated parking area. If your group exceeds three people, anyone 14+ must purchase a tasting glass for entry. Each team can buy up to three discounted tasting glasses at the gate. Bring your own drinking water for cooking; the association provides water for washing up. Tables, chairs, and pavilions are not supplied—bring your own setup.

Schedule and Awards

Set-up starts at 07:00 on May 16. Cooking begins at 08:00. Deliver finished dishes to the jury tent between 12:00 and 15:00. Winners will be announced on stage between 16:00 and 17:00. Prizes include the Jury’s Special Award and category certificates—Gold, Silver, and Bronze—with a trophy for first place. To help organizers plan, please confirm participation by the Tuesday before the event.

About the Venue

Just 1.2 miles from the center of Péteri, near the Monor Cellar Village (Monori Pincefalu), a local wine house sits quietly on the Péteri vineyard hill with sweeping views. It features a large terrace seating 100, an indoor hall for 60, a wine cellar, and a kitchen turning out oven, grill, and kettle dishes. Traditional Hungarian cuisine is served exclusively with estate-made wines and pálinka, using pork, poultry, and beef from their own butchery. They farm 7.4 acres of vines, with Blaufränkisch (Kékfrankos) the star variety. They also arrange guided tours, paintball or airsoft matches, and in winter, traditional pig-slaughter demonstrations and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

Plan Smart

Organizers reserve the right to change the date and program. The festival runs at 2209 Péteri, Óhegy. Come early, pace your tastings, and save some energy for that Retro Disco finale.
