Balatonfüred switches to full spring-summer mode from April, packing the calendar with festivals, concerts, theater, comedy marathons, lake cruises, food-and-wine weekends, and big-ticket races. The lakeside town spreads its programs across multiple venues, with recurring staples like cinema screenings and boat trips anchoring a stacked lineup through August.

Late April: Workshops, Runs, and Jókai Classics

April 23 serves up Pizza and Trade Secrets, a hands-on pizza-making workshop. The same day kicks off Ultrabalaton, the endurance juggernaut circling the lake from April 23–26, based in Balatonfüred. Seniors take the stage at the Life to the Years Festival from April 20–23. Literary tradition returns April 24–25 with the 35th Jókai Days, followed by the beloved Jókai bean soup cooking contest in the Koloska Valley on April 25. That weekend also brings Balatonfüred boat excursions April 25–26 and a local wine showdown on April 26: the Balatonfüred Wine Competition and the 35th City Wine Competition, both in town.
Spring wine terraces open under the “Hello Terrace!” campaign at Zelna Winery from April 3–26, part of a nationwide push by Hungarian Wine: four weekends, nearly 100 wineries, one mission—sip spring with a view. Regular Balatonfüred sightseeing cruises run April 20–24, then again April 27–30, in parallel with the weekly cinema program blocks (April 20–26, April 27–May 3).

Theater, Books, Kids, and Bikes in May

On April 29 at 19:00, the Arács Community House hosts …In Our Street…, a one-act dramedy by Lili Fabacsovics set in a nameless Hungarian town mid-wedding, where a mysterious Young Man greets locals like old friends—and suspicions split the crowd. The cast features Kós Mátyás, Szalma Lenke, Bodor Géza, Jámbor József, Varga Klári, Tőkés Nikoletta, Pásztor Márk, Stauróczky Viktória, and Papp Csaba. Directed by Janka Barnabás. Admission is free.
May 1 is a family trifecta: the Balatonfüred Runners’ May Day Children’s Race on Kossuth Lajos Street (free but registration required; starts from 11:30 by age group, results at 13:00), a Library Picnic and May Day in town, plus a local history and Jókai Museum May Day. Cyclists roll out for the 4th BalatonFondo on the same date. Lake cruises run May 1–3, with the Kékszalag Port Active Watersports Season Opener and Sports Day on May 2, 10:00–17:00.
Also May 2: two culture hits. At 19:00 the Congress Center hosts the two-act comedy Light Morals, staged by Csillagfény Produkció. Tickets: about USD 12.50. That morning at 10:00, chef Attila Villám presents his book How Does a Hungarian Chef Reach the Royal Family’s Kitchen? at the Huray Villas (Blaha Lujza St. 2)—free with registration. At 18:00, the House of Jewish Excellence continues its Living Luminaries series with guest Sándor Gabnai, Lutheran pastor and writer, reflecting on his vocations, “Füred-ness,” and daily challenges.
May follows a weekly rhythm: cinema programs and boat trips May 4–10 and May 11–17. On May 5, the Balaton Cinema Film Club screens Sergei Parajanov’s The Color of Pomegranates. May 15–17 brings the Balatonfüred Concours d’Elegance, a vintage car beauty contest, alongside the Season-Opening Sail Hoisting Ceremony and Regatta on May 16.

Pro Racing, Fish and Wine, and Children’s Weekend

Tour de Hongrie streaks through Balatonfüred May 17 around 14:26. Riders take Highway 71 through town, turning from the Tesco roundabout toward Fürdő Street, then head for Balatonszőlős at the next roundabout. From May 18–24, more boat trips and cinema blocks set the pace. The Balaton Fish and Wine Festival shakes the lakeside May 22–25 with regional flavors and pours. End of month: another cinema and cruise block May 25–31, plus a Children’s Day weekend May 30–June 1 and a special Children’s Day cruise on May 31.

June: Books, Jazz, Cinema, and Guitars

Sightseeing cruises continue June 1–5, and cinema runs June 1–7. More boat excursions on June 6–7. On June 7, the Congress Center hosts Szegény gazdagok (The Poor Rich) with tickets around USD 20–21. June 8–12 adds cruises; June 8–14 adds films. The Book-Wine-Jazz Festival pops June 11–14, the Hungarian Motion Picture Festival follows June 18–20, and the International Guitar Festival runs June 20–27. In between, cruises (June 13–14, June 15–18, June 19–21, June 22–25, June 26–28) and weekly cinema blocks (June 15–21, June 22–28) keep the waterfront lively.
Comedy lands June 20 as Kovács András Péter and Ráskó Eszter perform at the Balaton Leisure and Conference Center (tickets about USD 21). On June 27, join the Füred Rabbi city walk: synagogue tour and House of Jewish Excellence visit, all led by an authentic guide.

July: Open Water, Open-Air Stage, and Comedy Takeover

Late June cinema runs into July 5, with cruises June 29–July 2 and July 3–5. July 1 brings organist Gergely Rákász with Mozart at the Evangelical Church (about USD 17). July 4 doubles down on guided nature and cycling: Tourajó walks From the Tree to the Forest and the Füred BIKEventure (each around USD 11). Weekly films and cruises run July 6–12. The Allianz Bay Crossing and SUP Challenge splashes down July 11.
On July 14, Hyppolit, the Butler, a two-act musical comedy, plays the Balatonfüred Open-Air Stage (about USD 16). From July 17–26, Dumafüred 2026 takes over the Conference Center, stacking Duma Jam mixes, headliners, and All Stars nights. Highlights include Hadházi László, Kovács András Péter, Litkai Gergely, Dombóvári István, Mogács Dániel, Musimbe Dávid Dennis, Felméri Péter, Kőhalmi Zoltán, Aranyosi Péter, Janklovics Péter, and more, with tickets ranging roughly USD 21–27 for All Stars and USD 7.90–11.60 for selected shows. The schedule packs solo hours like The Last Night’s Right (18+) and The World’s Brain, ensemble riffs like Duma Swing 3 and Duma Aktuál, and multiple All Stars mashups.
The Anna Festival unfolds July 21–26, culminating with the 201st Anna Ball on July 25, one of Hungary’s most storied society evenings. That same day: the White Ribbon – Szabolcs Izsák Memorial Regatta sails. Tours with the Füred Rabbi return July 18. Weekly cinema and cruises run July 20–26 and July 27–Aug 2.

August: Blue Ribbon Glory

The 58th Raiffeisen Blue Ribbon (Kékszalag) Grand Prix, Europe’s largest lake circumnavigation regatta, anchors July 30–Aug 1 in Balatonfüred, drawing elite sailors and a festival crowd to the town’s shoreline. Weekly cinema continues Aug 3–9. More late-summer and autumn dates, plus regional picks like the Kőröshegy Wine and Gastro Picnic on June 20, keep the wider Balaton buzzing straight into September and beyond.
All season long, regular cinema schedules and sightseeing cruises give you a default plan between headline acts—so whether it’s books and jazz, bean soup and vintage cars, or comedy and classical, Balatonfüred’s 2026 diary is wide open.
