Get hands-on with the wild

Curious how a sand tiger shark downs its lunch? Want the inside story on snakes’ unusual dining habits? At the Tropicarium, you don’t just watch — some programs even let you take part under expert supervision. In the rainforest zone, grab feed from a vending machine and hand-feed colorful koi carp living right by the alligators for a thrill that’s both safe and seriously memorable. Guided tours put you in the front row for piranha behavior and include supervised feeding of rays, monkeys, and birds.

Weekly feeding schedule

– Monday 14:00 snake
– Monday 14:30 alligator (every third Monday of the month)
– Tuesday —
– Wednesday 14:00 monitor lizard (temporarily suspended)
– Thursday 14:30 shark feeding
– Friday 15:30 cotton-top tamarin feeding show
Monkey feedings usually run 11:30–12:00 and 15:30–16:00. In the rainforest, visitor-bought feed lets you treat the koi beside the alligator habitat. During guided tours, watch piranhas and, with the guide’s help, feed rays, monkeys, and birds.

Up-close shark thrills

The ray touch pool invites everyone to gently pet these majestic ocean gliders — and, with keepers’ help, even feed them. Beneath the shark aquarium, a 39-foot viewing tunnel puts sand tiger and brown sharks practically at arm’s length. Every Thursday at 15:00, divers hand-feed the predators in a dramatic show. Over in the rainforest area, tropical rain showers every 15 minutes over the alligators set the mood.
