Free guided tours run every Saturday at the Hungarian Parliament Museum, starting at 10:00 a.m. from the Parliament Visitor Centre at Kossuth Lajos Square (Kossuth Lajos tér) 1–3, 1055 Budapest. The 45‑minute walk-through explores the ever-evolving exhibition A magyar törvényhozás ezer éve (A Thousand Years of Hungarian Legislation), tracing the roots and rise of Hungarian parliamentarism from the Middle Ages to the regime change.

What’s Inside

Eight chronological chapters track milestones from the earliest assemblies to the estates’ Diet, then the emergence of a modern parliament up to 1918: Reform Era sessions, the birth of popular representation, and the consolidation of a new, principle‑based system. A third arc spans 1918–1990, charting upheavals, experiments, and restarts. Interactive stations unpack the Golden Bull (Aranybulla) and the April Laws, while widening the lens on the twentieth century’s zigzags.
